Why was Dr. Dre so much better at rapping on The Chronic than he was afterwards?

Oh, no

He had evolved, and showed his evolution

By adding vocal inflections

An advent of the time brought about to mainstream mostly by Nicki Minaj (but actually pioneered by Mac Dre - a master of the art of communication that exemplified ‘it’s not what you say, but how you say it’)

It sounds simple, but no … vocal inflections were literally not a thing in 1992

Them inflections be a whole ass :scust:

Up to chronic 2001 Dre legitimately had a good flow and you would never mind seeing him on track. It’s crazy how someone with his musical ear has no idea he has the worst flow in the history of hip-hop. Might be the closest thing to nails on a chalkboard.

Rappers flows and deliveries tend to get worse as they get older...

Nas flow peaked in 96...he had to tweak it to reach elite level in 01 & 02...but to me, his peak was 96

Guys don't flow top tier forever, none of them do

An exception to this rule is Cole

Wasn't Dre in his mid-30s by his 2nd album? Anything after the 2nd album it's just unrealistic for him to be at his peak bc of his age

I never understood the elevation of Kurupt. He never really impressed me.

He used to be great but now it feels he’s just on autopilot…and he keeps rapping about Pteranodons and other assorted dinosaurs for some reason.

Noticed it recently and I just find it a strange artistic choice. Like, you are 52 years old, why are you so obsessed about Dinosaurs that you have to bring them to work?

:wtf:

He’s going to run out of them soon and have to start mentioning made up ones like Barney, Yoshi, and Earl Sinclair.
