Can’t mention a Bleek without mentioning this joint either

This my shyt :salute: Bleek was never trash. M.A.D.E. is my favorite album from him. Had some fire tracks from Bleek and dope production. He wasn't the best or the worst in Rocafella but he stayed in his lane. Plus he was under one of the greatest rappers to do it. If he was on another label I think things would be different.

He had some cuts.

But his voice was too much yelling & straining most tracks....like no tonal fluctuations. He sounded much better on tracks his voice was relaxed. He had that meek mill syndrome. It's like those dudes get too excited on every track.

Plus his subject matter was limited. Maybe more limited than Baby Birdman Williams at times.

- surrounded by mediocre to mid artists and he was also one while he boss was elite
- look didn’t stand out
- voice didn’t stand out
- subject material didn’t stand out
- brought nothing new to the table
- someone had to be the St Lunatics, someone has to be Nelly. His boss was the Nelly of the crew

Exactly this. Bleek wasn’t wack, but he was mediocre as all hell. He was good for a dope verse, or lines hear and there, but he never stood out. People OD on calling him trash mainly cuz Jay tried to crown him as the one who had next.

That’s what made Jay learn the limits of his influence. He could influence how people dressed, what they bought, even how they thought, but he couldn’t get them to accept a mediocre rapper as being the replacement for the GOAT (this is back when he was threatening to retire every other song 🙄). Jay never tried that again. He moved to more riding waves. From Ye to Cole to even Jay Electronica, artists had to earn their own solid base and Jay would just help amplify it. Even with State Property and them…Jay would put them on songs, but if the world wasn’t feeling them he wasn’t gonna force it like he did with Bleek; word to Amil.

Gudda Gudda was mad underrated….not a superstar at all but should’ve been given more of a chance than someone like Nav

You just reminded me of The Weeknd and XO. Nav and Belly got the push but they had marginal success.

Stop.

Bleek was average especially in real time.

He could never make a hit record, even tho he had a strong legendary team behind him.

They touted bleek the heir to the thrown after jay.

Dude wasn't a artist. He ain't want this shyt. It was a hustle to him. IMO

imagine giving a kid like lil baby or even a nikka like g herbo support like bleek had. shyt give it to these lil drill nikkas and see how shyt shake out.
They put him on a pedastool :mjlol:
