, I'm all for waving a white flag when a wack emcee's push comes to a halt, but how come doom never got that slight push later in his career, when IMHO he was putting out some of his best pieces. I mean if Mos Def and Talib Kweli had moderate commercial success, how come someone who would roast them on the microphone let alone is one of the best beatmakers out there never gets credit for doing what he's always done? I'm sure Doom, himself doesn't really care and he's never heralded himself as "underground" or "independent", but come on we can go song for song with "your" favorite underated MC, and MF is creating the more potent quality product. continue

In a way he was relevant to the masses on the context that the indie scene was thriving the early 2000s. Dude was on friggin Adult Swim and even did work with the Wu and so forth. Also, he technically was on the mainstream radar as Zev Love X during the KMD days. All in all, dude peaked to the masses while the dude that put him on to his well famous persona didn't (MF Grimm):mjcry:

The point of DOOM's whole career was that he would NEVER sell his soul.
"For a mill do a commercial for MelloYello
Tell them devils hell no sell y'all own jello"
That and the fact that he trolls his fan base by sending impostors to shows. A dude who refuses to show his face has no chance at making it in the mainstream and that's the way he wanted it
