its no different then top sales people at large corporations or real estate or anyone else who is way above anyone else in their field..
some people just have another level they can take it to, take it more serious than others or are more motivated than others and while others may be as motivated, you couple that with the talent it puts rare individuals on a plateau
While not the NBA, still large corporations I worked for AT&T and Verizon and I was #1 or #2 almost always every month on the entire west coast (6000+ sales people) or at the bare minimum the district / region and I worked in a way smaller store than large cities like San Francisco, LA, etc. but I was just THAT good coupled with a drive other sales people didnt share.
but I was obsessed every single day I clocked in to maintain #1 by any means, to the point my co workers would be so jealous of my commission checks or how many people id help in a day compared to them (hungry) they would make complaints to managers saying its not fair

fukk them
every job I worked at, fukk even selling shoes at Champs in my young years I HAD to be #1 in sales in the store or district at the least.. I was obsessed with it.. every day when I clocked in id check my ranks in the store, district and region.. Champs, AT&T, Verizon, Chase, it didnt matter I needed to be #1 in some way.. I dont give a shyt if its flipping credit cards or checking accounts as a banker at Chase, I needed to push more than anyone else in my branch
