:ahh: Nas stanning Jay-z haters still watching old Jay-z interviews and dissecting his every sentence to try to find L's. Jay got caught there not knowing if he should just let it out like he does on Hot97, joke like on Letterman or keep it politically correct like he does on CNN. Problem is that Bill Maher is all; comedy, seriousness and laidback rolled in one.

S/O to Maher though, obviously promo interviews on hiphop stations can't do this.
15 radio interviews in 2 weeks generally targeted to people who already know about Hov asking the same questions year after year about how hiphop changes while being married, contradictions of life and entertainment, outrageous lyrics etc will not fly for people just checking in for 5 minutes in the car on their way to work.

Jay is one of my top 5 mc's but i hate when rappers get on tv and can't articulate themselves properly.

Jay and many of them rappers are so used to being sucked off by interviewers and being asked basic shyt, they don't really need to articulate themselves.

Killer Mike has had debates with Michael Eric Dyson, and Jay up here struggling to answer shyt outside of the typical vein of groupie ass questions.

Damn Jay was looking like Sarah Palin in that Katie Couric interview...

He should stick to being interviewed by the Funk Flex's of the world.. That was brutal...

How dare Bill Maher treat the Black John Lennon like that...The Mickey Mantle of rap deserves much more respect..

bu but mickey mantle corked his bat

The camel really is awkward...

His interviews n listenin' to him speak really annoy the shyt outta me... This negro sounds like he ain't even made it to 8th grade... can't articulate a proper thought n shyt...

Really makes you think, how can a rapper who supposedly comes off the dome, n/h, in the booth can't talk properly in an interview...

I didn't see his failure to articulate. Bill Maher has mastered his act, which is designed to put celebrities/politicians in uncomfortable spots. That's what he's known for and he's a master at it. I actually thought Jay had pretty good answers and played the situation pretty good, and I'm not even a Jay Stan.

This is the case for almost all rappers.

I've always wondered how you can be part of a culture that is based on having skill with words, excel within that culture, yet still have no fukking idea how to speak correctly.

It's like, yo, it's just, how we do, nahmsayin? That next shyt, that real real, extra, dope, next shyt that people feel? We got that shyt that. We true artistses, nahmsayin, like, f'real, nahmean? ...etcetera, etcetera.

:comeon:

I'm a big Wu stan but Raekwon is one of the worst for this shyt.

Honestly hip hop journalism is terrible.. It's not just with Jay, they toss soft balls to everyone and never ask any nuanced critical questions.. The problem is most of them want to be celebrities themselves, so they act like fanboys and feel like kissing up to these rappers will get them more access and exposure...

It's not just that they're spineless fanboys, which most are (Shaheem Reid, Elliot Wilson, Miss Info, Toure, etc etc etc..) The way I always looked at it, the radio shows, TV programs, and mags are just vehicles to promote agreed upon artists so everyone can cake up. In other words (and I realize I'm not revealing anything earth-shattering here) there's no kind of objectivity involved - it's just pure promotion.

I don't think it's just about money, 50 cent is very disliked by the hiphop journalists, minus toure, elliot wilson used to sh!t on eminem, dream hamton always had negative sh!t to say about DMX.

I think networking is very important.

Why don't you post the entire interview? I remember watching it and thinking he was a complete Jay stan. This is just one part of a 30 minute interview. He laughed so hard at shyt that wasn't funny, said Jay was at the top of the rap game, said he's been a fan for a long time, etc. He even gave him a book of his own lyrics :dead:
