The whole African thing is a pipe dream. Garvey philosophy has a good idea, but the problem with It is that it assumed Africa is one giant homogenous culture. I have never been to Africa. To assume that I'll get along with them just because our skin color is naive and hollow in its lack of self awareness.

My GF goes to medical school with many Africans, and has 2 in her study group of 4. Both of them expressed that their parents did not want them studying with African-Americans because they considered them lazier and dumber than their Indian/Asian counterparts.

Obviously it bullshyt because if you're medical school, you're smart as shyt regardless. It's not the first time I've heard that sentiment in academic circles either.

Like any other group, you will encounter Africans who are on some bougie shyt. A lot of them are the Africans you encounter in the US. Remember, it is not cheap for some one from Africa to migrate to the US, whether it to be a permanent resident or a student at a university. They are not a fair representation of all Africans out there.

I'm considering Canada because they have a rich history of non-violence, and anti-war. Guns on citizens are outlawed, they have industry, and are on the come up. A lot of things about Canadian culture mirrors my own inner world view and philosophy.

I said that about Canada. What can you tell me about a country in Africa besides you care about their skin color? This is why you'll never even step off this rock called "home". the majority of my friends are black americans...I got nothing but love for my black peoples across the gold.

I ain't gonna lie though...some of these new first gen Africans do act "brand new" so to speak cause they're coming from relative privilege. They act like they are above AAs and I hate that. There would be no us without you in America and they don't get that. They like to be tokens and the magical unicorns in their circle.

I got my ties to America, but I always know as a black person I'll be judged by my race before any issues of my nationality come up.

Black people weren't meant to live or prosper in a cold ass climate like the one in Alaska. It's literally against our nature and genetic makeup. The reason why we are why we are is because we had to adapt to the sun and the hot climates of Africa. Caucasians braved the cold in the Caucus mountains...
