Jordan had the gambling scandal and the unfortunate death of his father. Media was saying his gambling was the cause of his father dying before the investigation solved the case.

But that never became a prevailing narrative in the media that lingered for over a decade.

Been saying things but so much wrong with NBA discourse has to do with chasing the ghost of Jordan. The whole face of the league stuff is looking to fill the void because of how the league is marketed. And how much the league suffered when that guy isn't there.

In Jordan's era I don't ever recall "hating" being in the national media. Especially once he broke through.

It'd be fans who disliked certain players or teams. However, wasnt really a media push. I think the only people who really got dissed were Rodman and Barkley and it was more for off the court reasons.

MUTHAfukkA LITERALLY WROTE
A SLANDEROUS BOOK TITLED THE "JORDAN RULES"
IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS PRIME.

HE ALSO HAD TO DO A SIT DOWN INTERVIEW
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FINALS
AND ADDRESS HIS GAMBLING PROBLEM.

WHATS THE MOST SLANDER
BRON HAS RECEIVED?
BEING CALLED LEBRICK?
PPL BEING UPSET FOR A YEAR
BECAUSE HE WENT TO MIA?

No other major league allows its media partners to constantly shyt on the product. It has a knock-on effect of reducing fan interest.

The job of Chuck, Shaq, JVG, etc in every other league is to hype up the product and sell positive interest stories about the players to keep fans invested.

Meanwhile the NBA seems to be just fine with Turner Sports and ESPN shytting all over the product for social media "engagement." It's letting former players and coaches do a constant stream of nostalgia and "back-in-my-day" bullshyt that's putting the league on precarious footing in terms of future interest.

Just an ass-backwards strategy that leads to debacles like that last all-star game. Pathetic. The NBA is very fortunate that media conglomerates are going all in on live-sports investments as the last pillar holding up all their live tv and livestreaming infrastructure.

Whenever Silver retires, the next commish needs to nip that shyt in the ass (no diddy).

It's ridiculous.

Goodell made ESPN cancel Playmakers.

This is why MJ is the GOAT

He would take on all criticism and overcome!!!
You sound stupid

Did MJ have a dude on TV criticizing his every move and discrediting everything he does day in and day out??

Did he have Twitter??

All MJ had to deal with was people thinking a guy leading the league in scoring can't win a title..

He didn't have crazy social media and a nikka on TV every single day who's entire existence is about discrediting everything he does to millions of people

What the fukk are you talking about?

Steven A made a great point just now in saying social media (not the actual media) are actually being more critical towards these players than the actual media and players are using that to shyt on the actual media

The talking heads are the ringleaders of this culture of negativity, hot takes & trolling, but of course I wouldn’t expect him to acknowledge that
