And just in general the face of the league debate is pointless. That’s not something you just appoint someone. It organically happens.

Like Steph organically grew more and more popular because people loved his game and how he carried himself. People rallied around him not because the media or the suits said “Hey this is the face of your league now”

This shyt just makes the NBA look desperate. And all the more reason you should be trying to build team loyalty, so you’re not left panicking anytime a big superstar is close to retiring

There was an epic Jokic vs Giannis game last night.

And yet lead with this.

That's the problem. Time could have been spent (to start) on if the Bucks are becoming a threat in the east or is healthy Giannis going to be the best player in the league or not.

To me its about balancing criticism and actually talking basketball. Bron's comments should have been like a 3rd or 4th topic.

I don’t want to hear no shyt about debate shows when sport opinions were reserved to newspapers which were purchased & absorbed by society to the point where Mike Lupica & Peter Vescey made their way to tv off the strength of their newspaper muscle :youngsabo: :youngsabo: :youngsabo:

In Jordan's era I don't ever recall "hating" being in the national media. Especially once he broke through.

It'd be fans who disliked certain players or teams. However, wasnt really a media push. I think the only people who really got dissed were Rodman and Barkley and it was more for off the court reasons.
Media always called him a ball hog.
And fans of rival teams, especially Knicks Fans hated his guts with a passion. He got plenty of hate

One thing I find very evil and treacherous about basketball media is how they make these lofty/inaccurate comparisons with young players just so they can attack them when they struggle. They did it with Booker, Tatum, Ant and I guarantee they're gonna do it to SGA.

And this is why I say these nikkas are a cancer to the game. Everybody wondering why Tatum isn't being pushed as the face of the league and I say his image never recovered from the hate he got for struggling in the 22 Finals. He was the future of the league after the Nets series.

But when he played bad in the finals against GS, everybody shyt on him and it's continued ever since. Even when he was playing on one leg in Game 7 against Miami, you still had folks shytting on him. I ain't even a Boston fan and that pissed me off.

And now you got the same idiots in the media wondering who the next face of the league is when they've been shytting on every potential candidate for years because they aren't perfect, while ignoring the MANY flaws and struggles of the past players they prop up.

They need to get up outta here ASAP
