Wake.
Yall that clamor for these HS prospects to go to these HBCU's...did yall go to one yourself? I mean it's strange to me to want these kids to make decisions that you yourself didn't make in your own personal life. Let alone if you were in their shoes. I'm definitely all for the betterment of these Black colleges and salute to yall that are actually went to one but let these young boys cook and make the best decisions for themselves and not this "giving back" mess.

As someone who went to an HBCU for football, I feel completely comfortable telling people that they need to stfu with the whole "black kids need to go to HBCUs because reasons" shyt

why the hell should these student athletes further mortgage their future on programs that are nothing more than support structures for the band? stop focusing on the potential freshmen and instead take a look at the alumni - these are the people who either rock the got mine :umad: or hit grad (because if you can't swing a 3.0 GPA at a HBCU then you either don't care or are straight up retarded) and don't look back

and no. just because the level of comp is so bad and the styles of play are trashball at its finest.

Joe flacco last FCS player I think that was drafted high

Thing is nowadays if you are good enough you will be on the radar but :ehh:

Lol. Hell nah. I can't think of a situation where any FCS player would go that high. There have been a few guys from the that have gone in the second round in recent years.

Ever? Probably. But it likely won't be because a top talent decided he wanted to help bring HBCUs back....

It'll be because an under-recruited player blows up while he's there.

Thanks. I had a hard time recalling the last player. Yea, the guys that go high are usually transfers from FBS schools. Either they were low on the depth chart or couldn't act right.

True as hell. A&T has a chance to clinch the MEAC tomorrow vs. Central but there doesn't seem to be a lot of hype in the city. When that band comes on at halftime tho??? Man....

Nope...wont happen....will an athlete from a HBCU get drafted or even go undrafted and make noise in the NFL...no doubt...but most coaches will think a dude from a HBCU will fall in the draft and you can get him in the later rounds

If more of our top black high school players attended HBCUs. :ohlawd:

People ALWAYS post this in these types of threads.... and the reality of this, is that in todays sports landscape it wouldn't change shyt.

even if one top recruit did that shyt, it'd affect his stock so negatively to levels that he'd either fall off the map, or would transfer.

- Not one of these major sports outlets, is gonna give a fukk about ANY HBCU enough to put them in a prime time slot.

- it'd effectively give analysts just one more reason to shyt on a black athlete...for playing against lesser competition

- we've seen how all these HBCU's sell that ass to big name schools just to keep their programs running.... it'd be the same thing happening, just with better players.

- What top tier athlete is gonna pass up the big lights, best facilities, top tier school sponsors and a fast track to the draft to do something only people on the internet will consider noble?

especially when you can get drafted far higher than where you should, simply by going to a specific school.

We gotta stop living in a fantasy world breh, HBCU athletics won't ever compare to the big name schools in the Power 5 conferences anymore...but a change in the culture of people who attend/attended HBCU's would greatly improve athletics.

That was 20 years ago,the era was different. The big schools didn't let us be QB now you got blacks at Missisipi State,Alabama and other redneck schools, now they want us compared to back then.Never can say never tho :manny:

The most intelligent post in all of this. People forget the only reason that Steve McNair even went to Alcorn was because Southern Miss and Miss State would not offer him a scholarship to play QB. He wanted to go to Southern Miss because his idol downs Brett Farve. But Sothern Miss wanted to turn him into a CB.

Also black colleges were always able to have huge crowds back in the day before white schools started to pillage the black talent. You can even go back to the 90s and see this. So black folks will support college football but if the talent isn't there then they won't go. shyt look at states like Texas, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama. Black high schools sell out all day every day when it comes to basketball and Football. That is because there is a constant flow of talent.

Gotta remember these are young bucks. The ones who should be ashamed are the ones that let these colleges suffer financially. What happen at Grambling a while back was crazy.

You realize that when states cut funding they often do it to the black colleges before they even tough PWI. Also remember the Indian Governer in Louisiana came under fire because he was drastically cutting Gramblings funding.

Hell even in Mississippi they were found guilty of cheating all the HBCUs in the state of millions of dollars and funneling that money to white colleges.
