come on breh!, MLS aint on par with the big 5 euro leagues. The touch and speed of play is just not as good....even the decision making is suspect

ill explain the difference

Decision Making

i watch TFC and Timbers on the regs...too many bad decisions being made, alot of unnecessary passes and long balls to the space that should not be made. The ability to play composed is not exhibited in a lot of MLS players

Touch

MLS players actually have very good touches on average, but i am yet to see the quality on a CONSISTENT basis at a World Class level. when arsenal played west ham last week...Giroud's Goal...was class:blessed:, touch in the 18 to weak foot and score under composure. or the santi-giroud-wilshere combination goal that had nikkaz fallin off their seats earlier in the season:why:. Thats quality touch. something i rarely seen in the MLS.

Intelligence of Play

This has been very very bothersome and one of the reasons i sometimes dont like watching MLS...few players with who make intelligent well played moves/movement. I see attempts to pull such moves, for instance winger checking to space to lay off to D-MID who sends the ball to an overlaping winger who crosses and finishes. Not to say i have not seen that happen, but when it does happen, it does not look well executed. sometimes the fullback doesnt make the run at the right time:why:...annoying as hell. Also pass and move, i see it in the MLS..but again the quality is suspect.

I see all the above on a consistent basis in the big 5 leagues in europe. i can tune in to norwich and wigan and can watch better football than say sounders vs houston

In this thread alone, I've seen what's holding back US football. Stop thinking you need superior athletes to be great. Running with the ball is totally different to running without the ball (see Theo Walcott).

Over here we have Sunday Leagues for middle aged men and I'm telling you, some of these guys are the most unathletic looking men you'll ever see but that ball sticks to their feet like glue and they can put the ball on a sixpence at will.

With footballing success, there has to be an emphasis on technical ability and playing in a system, that's why Germany and Spain are the two best countries in the world. Players like Xavi, Iniesta, Schweinsteiger, Muller are not the most athletically gifted players around but they do everything else so well.

Just arguing this makes me question whether these nikkas even watch the Euro leagues or just look at the box score.

"Yo, the quality is the same. Galaxy score 3 goals last night and Real Madrid only scored 2 goals"

:mjlol:

Here you go making up your own facts again.

It is by far the most popular sport in France.

The French are just not that passionate about sports and have shytty clubs and regulations.
So it's not "life" in France like dude said.

And y'all need to chill with that "athleticism" talking point.

You don't think Nigera, JAMAICA, or Brazil field teams full of Blackleticism?

Spain and Germany are the best cause they work with kids on SKILL from a young age and funnel the best into academies.

Futball is a game of skill overall.

Your trying to say futball(soccer) isn't the most popular sport in France?
I was, I am not anymore because its not true. Rugby was more popular or a close rival to soccer in France, but that changed around the world cup in 1998. But it was a small statement in a bigger point. Dude said the sport is "life" in France, Germany, and England and that is why they are so much better. I said it is untrue, it is not "life" in those countries but they have better infrastructure for the development of youth players than the US. Thats the real issue.

I mean, at the end of the day if its the most popular sport in the country then it kinda is life.

Its a lot more kids in France that wake up on weekends to go to the parks/fields to play soccer all day with their friends than in the states.

The same way kids in the states would wake up and go play basketball/football all day with their friends just cause they love to do it.

I think this all ties into and at least makes a part of why they have a better infrastructure. No other sport competes for the best young athletes in France, Germany ,or England.

Not to mention all those kids follow the best European teams and idolize its players the same way a kid in the states would idolize Manning, Brady, Kobe, or LeBron.

breh's post said French people arent that passionate about sports in general. This is why I asked if you were reading things right.

It cannot be "life" and then your people are not passionate about sports. Its not.

in the first world countries, its not. We have a lot more things to distract us. You could argue video games is life.

completely untrue. A lot of sports compete. Cricket, Rugby, track and field, basketball, handball, etc.

And this best athlete stuff needs to stop. You dont need that in soccer. Chelsea is playing Sunderland right now on NBC4, which one of those brehs would be able to step on an NBA court and put up points?
