No. Without Hogan wrestling wouldn't have gotten to the heights it did. Hogan wasn't just in the right place at the right time, IMO no else could've done it.

Nah..Kayfabe being so strong helped the 80s wrestlers out. And some say Superstar Billy Graham influenced his look but Rocky 3 and WM 3 Definitely made Hulk Hogan immortal in the industry.

I don't think anyone is bigger than the Rock from pro wrestling. He never had a down period once he reached main event and he is more recognizable than anyone ever affiliated with pro wrestling. If this was 1996, u could say Hogan was without question bigger than anyone ever but after 2000, things were never the same again. Dwayne Johnson was raising ratings on other networks and shows. Successful in Hollywood...something everyone else failed at. One of a kind. And you'll never see it again with how exposed the business is these days..not to mention the McMahon agenda to act like fans are dummies.

When u can raise the ire of pro wrestling across the board on every spectrum to unseen heights? U have no peer.

Nah no way. The name hulk hogan and wrestling are synonymous.

In terms of popularity? Austin ran circles around him

Austin lol? The only dude you can argue being on hogans level is rock. Austin not there.

Men lie women lie numbers don't

Numbers say that john cena is a bigger star than macho man, andre the giant, flair . Most non wrestling don't know who the fukk john cena is.

Austin had an amazing but very brief run on top. Hulk hogan ran the 80's and revolutionized wrestling in the 90's.

edit: go ask people on the street have you heard of stone cold or hulk hogan, Hogan will win that.

Not to kids and teens...

I have lil brothers/cousins (kids) and im only 2 year removed from being a teen, they all know who hulk hogan is. John cena is without a doubt the most popular active wrestler today but he aint touching hogan. Like dude from the first post said, hogan is babe ruth.

Its like this kate perry is more popular than madonna to teenagers and kids but we all know she aint on her level.

Nah..I'm talking about Europe, Africa, Asia...There is no way anyone is blowing away the Rock in name recognition in pro wrestling. Not in 2014. If this was pre Tech/Net era? Sure but not now. He transcended the business like no one else.

Surpass Hogan in terms of what? The question itself is incomplete. Off rip, Hogan and Pro Wrestling will always be synonymous with each other. If we are talking popularity, Rock runs circles around him. We're talking $, others top him there too. But the if I take a group of people 8 to 80 and Hulk Hogan's name comes up, so too will wrestling.

As long as Vince draws breath, for better or worse, no one will get bigger than Hogan. Thats WWE perception and influence. Austin in my mind did. If for no other reason than those stupid what chants. Now, the day Vince dies I am certain HHH will de-emphasize his influence and im sure someone like Sheamus will be put in that spot. But maybe im just agitated :troll:

:heh:

Not even worth a proper response.

I'm not even a big fan of Hogan but he is pro wrestling, simple as that.

How can you talk about "unseen heights" and not give the edge to Hogan.

Look at what wrestling was before Hogan. Do you think anyone in their WILDEST DREAMS could predict where the sport was headed? Tell me if there was ever time before Hogan where you had 33 million people watching a live wrestling match on tv.

The Rock was no doubt a huge star and I'm sure the WWF audience grew even more as a result of the Attitude era but the jump was nowhere near the size of the one made as a result of Hogan. The only reason Rock had that platform and that opportunity to be a star to begin with is because the wrestling business had already made it into the mainstream... and that wouldn't have happened without Hogan.
