Will Drake go out like Milli Vanilli, or do fans not care bout authenticity anymore?

It depends on how the rest of the entertainment industry reacts to this. The mainstream audience is very fickle and they'll support you as long you're hot, but once you start slipping they're the first ones to abandon ship.

If Drake really starts getting clowned hard and made to look a joke in the public eye, it's over for him. But if this goes away in the next few weeks and nobody really addresses it, I think he'll be damaged but it won't end his career.
different era drake has loyal fans he is 6 years strong in the game he might have a minor setback but it won't hurt him at all.

I dont like drake and i enjoy him getting exposed.. but ion know :patrice: to many thots and cacs fukk with drake... we have to see what happens if he drops his next album and it still does numbers or not.

Edit: drake will not be respected by people who really like hip hop, but he will still be respected by thots, cacs, and people who only like a hot track.

Edit 2: i still want to see a DMX interview, he never liked drake from the start and i bet he ready for a rant on his ass being fake.
dmx has other things to worry about cause he fell off hard

I don't think it'll make a difference.

Drake is easily the most popular Hip Hop artist in the game now, but I'm not sure that people see him as its best lyricist. Nas said one that "when you get to a certain point in your career, people will work hard to find flaws." It's no secret that dude doesn't have many industry friends. He's said it himself. Cats aren't happy about his success. Kanye has repeatedly said he's the best, but we never saw any ghostwriting backlash, even when he admitted that he didn't write some of his biggest records. Nobody cared, because we all liked him. LOL!! But when you're not that likable, people will definitely try to bury you if they see what might be a crack in the armor.

But this isn't a Nas, Kendrick or even Cole. It's Drake. People's parents buy Drake records. They don't care about whether or not someone is saying he didn't write all his joints. It's like when Puff was at his peak, nobody cared who wrote those records. People just cared about the actual records. That's the kinda artist that Drake is. He's not a Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, Common or Scarface level type of MC, so it probably won't make a difference to most people. Authenticity, when it matters, is usually associated with artists who are kinda more on the traditional grassroots side of things. Drake is borderline Pop, and that's no diss to the dude.

Fans care about authenticity, but Drake fans don't.
If someone like Drake or Big Sean was exposed for not writing lyrics it wouldn't matter.
But if Kendrick or J.Cole did it would definitely effect their career because of what their fanbase expects from them.

I can't believe I'm about to:cape:for Drake like this but this shyt is so stupid.
Y'all really comparing Drake to Milli Vanilli because of this shyt:comeon: C'mon son:what:For people who spend all day posting on the internet about music, some of you saying some ignorant shyt.

Look, as far as performance and all that, it's no question. Drake's one of the best stage performers in rap and he doesn't lip-sync. It's HIS voice on those records. Milli Vanilli didn't even sing on their records.

Secondly, if you don't think your favorite rapper hasn't borrowed shyt at LEAST to the extent that Drake did with 10 Bands, you're not living in reality. Hell, the reference track bites previous Drake lines:aicmon:. ALL these rap nikkas are in the studio with their homies bouncing ideas and tossing lines and whatnot.

The hip hop head in me is glad that people actually care about this stuff but at the same time I have no doubt that Drake wrote the bulk of his shyt that people actually care about

it's more likely that this kind of shyt becomes more normalized and accepted unfortunately. check out the reactions on twitter, ovwelhmingly dikk riding drake, the vast majority of fans do not care about the art form at all. The media outlets, from noisey to fader to complex to usa today are all running stories caping for him.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Actually. Milli Vanilli got done dirty. They was homeless..from another country..didn't know the language well and didn't know how to read contracts. It was in their contract that they weren't allowed to sing any of their shyt but ironically they both actually knew how to sing. They just got a raw deal. One of em commited suicide.

Only way that would happen is if big rappers took shots at him.

Like it would take a Jay Z or Eminem to publicly shyt on him.

If that doesn't happen, Drake isn't going anywhere.

For all you younger heads, Google Milli Vanilli. They were a huge rnb/pop act who were not only exposed on stage for lip-syncing, but then found out that other ppl were writing and SINGING their songs on the records.

Their career was over literally over night. They had to give Grammy's back and other major awards.

Do ppl nowdays care about authenticity, or just a hot record?

We all knew Dr Dre was ghosted by Snoop and others, but nobody respected Dre as a lyricist anyway.

If all this is true will Drake survive and still be respected by fans?

Please get your terminology correct when you speak

Dr. Dre is a producer so he was exempt from responsibilities as a lyricist - this was also never a secret

What about the backlash toward Iggy Azalea?

We know Nicki Minaj has writers

We know Kreayshawn came up with writers

We know Snoop has writers

Drake got exposed but he was trying to play the role, like he was a venerable songwriter - dude's an actor

We seen the allegations toward Lil Wayne - so basically the entire Young Money as a staff record label and as a muthaphukkin crew
