He waited to do BB3 because they kept going through script rewrites. He said he absolutely WOULD do a third Bad Boys almost 5 years ago and they actually green-lit Bad Boys 3 & 4 but the studio wouldn’t give the original Director (Joe Carnahan) the budget he wanted so it languished for a few years and Will went off and did Suicide Squad and Bright.
But it wasn’t until he started having box office bombs and losing his status as Mr. summer box office that he pivoted towards social media and eventually BB3.
He need BB3 just as much if not more than Martin did. He waited too late and ended up getting eclipsed by The Rock. He should have hopped on the social media wave long before The Rock did.

They wanted him for both a Bright sequel and for the Suicide Squad sequel (both box office hits or “streaming hit” in Netflix’s case”) but be turned it down. They also wanted him to return for a MIB4 and he passed on that too.The social media thing is whatever. Its easy to say what “should” have been done in hindsight but its not being the “King Of Instagram” is guaranteed box office gold (though it CERTAINLY helps, I wouldn’t argue against that fact)

I wouldn’t consider SS a box office hit. Not to mention, Harley Quinn ended up getting the spinoff and not Will’s character.

Cause a million an episode is still way, way less than he makes for a movie (and his other income streams) with a shorter production schedule overall
He made over 40 million just last year alone
