I'm going to make this short. We have a lot of issues in our community. Besides corrupt cacs we also have people of our own skin that will either sell us out for a dollar or harm their own. I get poverty, but sh-t is getting WORSE for us. We don't have a huge AA type of lobby like Jews, Mexicans, or Cubans (politically).

The question is, do you think Blacks/AA's will rise up and take charge in our lifetime? I'm not talking individually, but as a collective group.

Women, especially sistahs, are loyal to their bread and butter plus their ability to consume. Since they can’t get that from brothas then no. That’s why a loud batch of African women ride so hard against African men. They know their anglo zaddies, as they say, love that.

The black community was intact when the men were in control of it. They incentivized for women to reproduce while keeping the man out of the house and out of control. No other communities in the US have majority of women as the head of households.

It’s not sistahs’ fault and it isn’t brothas’ fault either. However, sistahs need to stop jumping in front any social platform bashing African men but omit the transgressions of anglo saxons. Male and female.

What are one of "those" types?
If you don't truly know what womanism is you have no grounds to speak on it.
I haven't studied the ideology in depth so I don't label myself as such.
But yes I agree %1000 with the notion of Black women having our own spaces to be ourselves authentically and celebrate our experiences as Black Women.

Majority of african americans are too comfortable in this integrated society they're already brainwashed by media and consumerism, can't see that happen with this generation and the next generations, too late for that.

No I don't think a migration south would change anything, the entire culture has to change, not geographic location.

We were never really on top EVER.

However, there was a time we could ONLY depend on each other for necessities.

Blacks weren't allowed in white hospitals. So what did we have. Lots of black doctors and nurses.

Blacks had their own legal teams because you couldn't get a white man to defend you. So we had more black lawyers.

You couldn't buy in a black store unless you went to the back but most black people had their own lil corner stores or sugar spots etc...so we had more black ownership.

The point in trying to make is...whites barely wanted to do business with us so we had to have our own little get ups and professions to live. Hell we even had our own water fountain.

Integration did more harm than good bc blacks just wanted to be accepted. But we didn't know any better. You in a society that treats whites with the most respect, telling us how beautiful they are, they seem to have nice things, a nice life overall. Of course the oppressed will want that and want to be like that. But it's all a mental thing.

We NEED racial pride and esteem first and foremost.
People keep saying economics and we do need that but first we need self awareness.

the reconstruction era and the 70's

you two are black?

Yes I'm Black. During reconstruction, our predecessors were just getting out of slavery. Many of them STAYED on plantations and became sharecroppers. The 70's were the beginning of the structural decay of the Black nuclear family. The government created incentives for women to raise their children on their own.

I'm from the south. I know of some families who were so downtrodden, their families didn't leave plantations until the early 80's. This is a fact. I'm not saying we are not a great people but lets be honest with ourselves. We have had a hard time in this country, even though we have had some victories here and there. For the most of our history, it's us fighting and struggling.
