GOP is becoming whiter with each passing election and their platform will represent an appeal to that demographic. They are just trying to figure out how to balance their pro-business side with appeals to white working class men. Lyndon Johnson was the last Democrat to win white males, Democrats figure that they need to do well with a portion of white women and just watch the GOP implode trying to cater to their racist base and broaden the party. They have no problems restricting voting rights, closing clinics in places like Texas etc. The Democrats only need to contrast themselves with the GOP and they will easily pass the bar.

I don't think you get it. When I say the vote needs to be split I don't mean 50% decide to vote R and 50% decide to vote D. I mean every black vote needs to be up for grabs by either party. The more votes that are up for grabs, that both parties could legit win, the harder both parties will work for said votes.
Im not sure what pandering you're referring to. And even if I did pandering doesn't help people anyway.

Split what vote? We are a minority. There's not much we can do in this democracy.
The painful truth is for the most part, most blacks are fiscally liberal, but socially conservative. There's a party there. In theory, there are many republicans who feel the same way. That's three legitimate national parties. Until now, there wasn't a way forward, but with the rise of trump, the rebpulicans can shake themselves of the open racists.

Why would they fight for a dimished vote? We have a tiny population, it's only because we vote in blocs that the democratic party is forced to make policy with us in mind.
We should have learned from the Hispanics and grown our population.
If the republicans weren't so repulsive to certain social issues, blacks would be more varied in their voting. Blacks have a unique history with racism in this country that no other group can compare (Native americans being the only real exception I can think of). Blacks see republicans use these buzzwords and the type of supporters they attract and UNDERSTANDABLY they vote for lesser of two evils. You have a party that you can argue is inactive on issues that concern black folks while the other seems to composed of individuals who are looking to roll back policies and introduce policies that many black votes view as harmful.
Black people really have the misfortune of dealing with a truly lesser of two evils situation.
I've always said and many others said the same, for the most part black folks are very conservative minded. Its just the conservative party in this country is shyt.

I would agree if sadly those parties were anyway viable in this current two party system. Unless you can en masse convince a sizable amount of the population to vote for those parties, most people will play it safe.
Though we have a few independents who were successful like Perot and Nader to a lesser extent. But thats rare unfortunately.
The GOP needs a charismatic moderate who is not extreme with the anti goverment/immigration, pro business policies but still socially conservative(religious, anti abortion, gay rights, etc) They will at bring back the latino vote they alienated after Bush and may make slight inroads with blacks

I have always favored an approach of Blacks forming a Black centric third party at the local level where Blacks make up a majority of the voting population and caucusing with Dems at the fed level during things like the Presidential cycle
