Californ-i-a by way of BK
The biggest effect the South has is on the production sounds. I will readily admit that. But as far as overall running the game, they aren't. You can't deny their past impact has effected the sound of the current music. With that said, they don't run rap. No region runs rap. It's a collection of different artists all across the map now. Rap relatively sounds so much alike now, that people can barely tell who's from where

This.

The disrespect to the city that gave life to this genre we love so much is disgusting. shyt is like talking shyt back to your parents. :scusthov:

But then again I'd expect nothing from a 90% white Hip Hop board, their parents never taught them any type of respect or humility, they just made them sit on the naughty step when they talked shyt.

I would understand this post if this was anti ny thread but its not,:ehh:

Bruh, please explain how the suth has fallen off musically? Serious question

Who's the last lyrical guy not called Jay Electronica to come out the south and have a smash single or any type of movement in the last 5 years?

It's just been Trinidad James, Future and other drill/party music. That's not my idea of good music, it might be yours but Hip Hop has always been about being lyrical. :manny:

Bruh, now u are movin the goalposts. First u said the south fell off musically. Now u are sayin that the south doesn't have lyricists.

Do Andre 3000, TI, Wayne, Luda ring a bell?

Ye that as well but it doesn't mean you have to sound like a retired boxer on your music. :heh:

I get your point breh. Sometimes some songs can sound like the most c00ntastic shyt I have ever heard but you can't deny that sound is perfect for club music.

Illmatic is arguably the goat album but do i wanna hear it in a club? nah

Now imma keep it real. I dont like Lewis Black ol double sided ass. He jus like that nutty ass bama Poiter. A Chi-town nikka who visted NY for a year or two, and now has a dysfunctional relationship with it. Hates on current east coast hip hop but prolly idolizes Juelz Santana.

But with that said. Slime aint lying :manny:
The South is doing the damn thing :salute: . From creating new flows, to new soundscapes, to new energy :ahh: , its like a machine down there, the dopest part is the commardary down there. How everybody works together, from the producers to the rappers themselves. Sonny Digital and Metro Boomin are homies, Rich Homie Quan n Young Thug are cool with each other. The OGs like Gucci have helped facilitate almost every single up and coming artist down there, from Waka to Migos to Future to Young Scooter to Young Thug.

NY can learn a thing or two from the ATL rap scene :wow:

Where are guys like this? Krit is an artist the south needs to push more, he's the southern rap music I want to hear more of. He has the right mix of ignorance and consciousness and a genuine talent to make music.

For the most part though it's just fast food music like Migos that dominates the south. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's not fallen off musically.

But hold on I don't see how thats a bad thing.

Ny hip hop today is trash, absolute garbage. The dipset/d block/g unit era shyt is classic.

Dipset made better party music than anything I've heard come out the south. The ignorance from the south at the moment is gassed to a point that's just ridiculously shytty.

Oh and I'd be cool if it was just a minority but the idea of party music having that same drum beat and and high hat DOMINATING the south and Hip Hop in general until recently was a testimony to the shytty climate we've just climbed out of.

Who in the south is selling crazy records? They already did fall off.

Only southern rapper that sells records now is Lil Wayne

Every other high selling rapper is from Toronto, NY or Michigan
uh Wayne, T.I, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross
