Will there ever be an entertainer on Michael Jackson's level?

MJ had an entire record label though, he helped put food on peoples plates and establish careers in the music business, behind the scenes too.
I'm talking from working with people. Not the label, musically. I was on Pandora & heard Prince with some mothafukka I never heard of.

Like I said I'm not dissing M.J. He's a legendary artist, I'm just not a fan. i ride with Prince & Alicia Keys over M.J.

Not going through the entire thread, but I think Chris Brown had the triple threat, sing, dance, act potential, before he started acting up, and got all those damn tattoos. He had just become an adult when this downfall happened.

Plus, like someone else said, part of the celebrity status back then was the mystery. You had to buy a tabloid, or watch tv to know what celebrities were saying, or doing. Now, they tweet, and post pics, so we know what they are doing. And there are a million gossip blogs.

Even actors aren’t “movie stars” anymore. People see celebrities, and take selfies like it’s nothing.

Beyonce is the only person I can think of who generates pandemonium levels of interest when she does anything, and doesn’t just go to Target like a normal person. But let’s not act like Beyoncé can act. Look at The Lion King. She was just providing a voice, and it sounded like she was reading street signs. The cast of Avatar did a better job at voicing emotions. And Beyoncé’s dancing isn’t professional level technique. Plus, I don’t think Beyonce has enough songs that conjure emotions, and hit like MJ.

Not only was able to put on a good show, but the music was top notch. I wouldn’t hear a Beyoncé song, and

:wow:

Honestly felt like Shakira and Lady Gaga in their prime looked like they could have reached that level :yeshrug:

Check this out here

Or even Gaga's super bowl performance

Gaga fukked her career up tho and Shakira got lazy and stopped trying

Gaga did a decent job acting in A Star Is Born.

:ehh:

But Shakira wasn’t going to get there with that accent.

I also have to add, MJ was original. The world had never seen anything like the moonwalk, and every video was a major production. Now, nobody is doing anything that hasn’t been done. You had Gaga with the outfits, but so many others have gone that route with crazy outfits. And she had some hits, but who is hearing the Gaga song, and thinking,

:wow:

I don’t even check for videos like that anymore. Music videos aren’t a big deal anymore, and MTV has become a bunch of reality shows.

I remember anticipating videos. My friends and I would wait for certain videos to come come.

(Baby got back only came on after a certain hour)
:lolbron:

MTV had Making The Video, and people like Jessica Simpson had highly anticipated videos.

:hhh:

These 2 could walk into Lennox Mall solo with no hype and they'd be left alone. :unimpressed:

The closest celebrities to MJ famous right now are movie stars, people like tom cruise, sam jackson, will smith etc etc...in the music world it ain't happening because the game is too spread out

go into your local barber shop and ask about billie english if you don't believe me :mjlol:

Well obviously yeah. I meant in terms of potential.

Gaga in 2010 was really huge and really looked like she was gonna take over the industry. Same with Shak in the first half of the 2000s: she had 4 of the 20 biggest selling songs of the decade.
