Politicians caught in scandals and those who openly court and supporting white supremacists and their views no longer suffer political consequences, before they would have to
use dog whistle, now they are pretty overt

It won't. Folks in the extreme are getting more of the press attention then normal politicians. These people found out that all they have to do is be the loudest people in the room and the cameras will come. At this point they get to spit out whatever agenda they want and it will be talked about. We no longer ignore crazy people, we put them in the forefront and that radicalizes the people that listens to them.
We can't seem to agree on anything and what's left is a gridlock election after election. We can't find a middle ground with guns, medical system, student debt, abortion, the budget and everything else. And whatever does pass gets watered down and folks use it as an opportunity to put a lot of BS in bills that has nothing to do with nothing. The system been broken.
There is no presidential savior coming because he can't do it on his/her own. There needs to be a completly new class of folks that actually cares about the country and not worried about getting elected. I'm hoping GenZ can save us down the road.

It's over. There will never be a time. Even people that were reasonable about it back then, because of the severity of what actually happened, have put blinders on today. The extremism on the right will stop when the leaders of the party stop being scared of their voters. What should happen is that Trump loses to Biden again in 2024 which causes Republican leaders to have a meltdown that results in throwing MAGA in the bushes.

I agree, I think 2024 is a turning point. If Republicans lose in 2024 then they're going to have to cut the MAGA sect loose. They can't appeal to a wide enough audience with the extreme MAGA faction running the show, and back to back losses against weak Democratic nominees would confirm that. Although I thought 2020 would be the end of MAGA with Trump losing but it seems to have only gotten worse.
If Desantis/Trump win in 2024 though...
You better hope you're in a blue state to somewhat insulate you from the wild federal legislation that'll be coming out with Desantis in office, conservative SCOTUS, and GOP potentially controlling both bodies of Congress. The stuff we're seeing come out of Florida, Tennessee, Texas, etc will be happening on the federal level.

On the left we mainly nominate and elect moderates but our internal Culture Warz will continue to get worse I think. Kind of the worst of both worlds in that aspect. We'll keep pushing lukewarm Biden type candidates while at the same time culturally pushing for "extreme" stuff like trannys reading books to kids, etc

nah I think someone on here said it, or I read it on reddit but ever since Obama was president (earlier if you count Ronald Reagan) everything and anything will be a bipartisan issue, you will see dem or republican presidents just outdo each other (like trump getting rid of obama policies just because it was under his administration) blue states will be better for overall humanity, while red states will appeal to their voter base (right wing, conservative, WHITE crowd)
