Will VR have a shorter shelf-life than 3D TVs?

lets admit it. This VR shyt isn't going to take off. It's one of those things that would be neat to experience at a trade show or something but the cost and gimmick is not going to lead to it being a long term success. Most people prefer to play their games zoned out on the couch with a controller in hand. Not bumping into walls and breaking windows trying to swipe at virtual enemies.

thing is if you watch a movie in 2D or 3D, it's basically the same shyt

but the room scale stuff on my Vive has been fundamentally different from 'traditional gaming'. that's also why you can't write it off like "people would rather sit down with a controller in their hand". that may be true, but they're not gonna be able to have the same experiences

We gotta see what Sony does first. The PSVR will make or break VR in the mainstream (and this is coming from somebody that has both the Rift and the Vive).

That sh1t here and not leaving. 3D tvs still here too. They just don't make a big deal about 3D. Almost all new tvs have 3D. Unless u buy a 200$ cheaper version of said tv
No it isn't. Samsung and LG has backed out the 3D market and they are the biggest tv makers to date

Neither of those are things that appeal to the mainstream
They're mostly for enthusiasts/tech nerds

Gang violence...
unlike 3DTV, VR will survive based on some practical applications, but as entertainment, it will never replace traditional gaming

it all depends on the content offered too. 3d had some lackluster content overall. VR right now is cool but it seems just a tad bit pricey to really get it going mainstream.

VR Pornhub though:shaq:
