With the way contracts are set up these days? No.
That's exactly why I'm saying, even back in the days Brian Jordan had to quit the NFL to sign a major deal.

Only two people, as far as we know, were even allowed that and one is a bigger than life character and the other is seen as the greatest athlete ever and he got injured in one sport that damaged his career in both.

So it's not really about if people have the capability or not, cause as we have seen if you are drafted close to #1 in two sports obviously you could theoretically play both. But who is investing 46m's for you to be a part-time worker, when the barely want you to play pickup games or take the all-star game seriously

It could happen

The issue is is if the athlete is that talented and in demand. I forgot the homie from Florida who ran in the Olympics before joining the NFL. He was on their last title team.

The issue is youth coaches discourage it because ita bad for coaches.

Jeff Demps? He didn't realistically have a shot of being an NFL player. He was just straight line speed.

Kids specializing too early now and the money is too big. You gonna sign your corner to record breaking deal if he is playing baseball. Same with your top outfielder thats getting in car crashes all fall and winter. I'd imagine coaches dont like it either.

He was in the league for a couple of seasons

Same with that snowboarder who made the NFL.

My only point is that it's not impossible, just that youth coaches discourage it. The crazy thing is it's actually good for athletes to play multiple sports as a youth. It works different muscles, works different parts of the brain and keeps athletes in shape year 'round.

Jeff Samardzija was a 2 time All American and probably would have been a 1st or 2nd round pick and chose to leave football alone. I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned.
