Something got corrupted in the process somehow. I was getting the dreaded storachi.sys error and said forget this mess, I'll start all over again. I am not really sure what caused this issue because everything on my end is up to date on the bios and everywhere else. Even temporarily switched to IDE on boot and was still getting the same shyt.

I thought my drive was dead for a moment, but nope. Probably something messed up in my old installation

I always have a copy of "Opera" on my machine, just to keep bookmarks I don't want anyone to see. If anyone borrows my machine, it's pretty unlikely they'll launch that instead of Chrome or IE.

Never thought of that. Most people probably don't even know what Opera is.

Had to change my lock screen settings back to how they were on 8.1. Don't know why upgrading took everything away, but now that it's back as it was my laptop takes forever and a day to come out of sleep mode

Yeah that's one feature that OS X had over Windows until now.

What resolution do you run at? 2560x1440 or higher with the 4 option snap view is GODLY. It's just the right size for how I do things usually. YouTube, Coli, Excel/Word, + some other thing I need to get to later on.

Something was definitely up with this ASUS laptop.

I tried to do the "Upgrade this PC Now" option and the installer just went away...when I opened it again it just restarted the download

I ended up saving it to the USB this time, finally went through and just activated.

Windows 8 is a thing of the past in Liquid's home.

So it downloaded the update and then went away after it downloaded? Sounds like what was happening to me until I installed some essential update and then it finally worked. You sure all the updates were installed?

Hell if I know, at least I didn't get that vague ass "something happened" message when I got an error to infuriate me even more.

It went through the whole download process, started getting ready and just disappeared. It was odd, I regretted not saving it on my USB because this is just the home version for this laptop and will have to re-download pro later on tonight to get it ready for my last iMac update.

Got tired of waiting, so I just went to the Microsoft website and downloaded it. Seems pretty nice so far. Love being able to delete programs from the start menu

This laptop needs an SSD bad, it's taking forever to do everything and its my girls main laptop. The HDD might very well be dying after all. I will do a quick reset to clean install and run some checks on it, might be time to dump the last hard drive I have on any of my computers
