I put it on wife's old laptop and it runs like a dream. Hardly use my laptop which has win7 since the upgrade as I just wanted to test it, will definitely put it on my main laptop when I get a chance.

Metro is literally better than 7 in every way. People bytching about how horrible Windows 8 is are either idiots or old fukks set in their ways. For the TS, if your that miserable and upset with change just install windows 7. Its really not that serious.

:snoop:

i'm sure you bought up all the bottles of new coke and clear pepsi in the 90's.
If it ain't broke and don't simplify it ain't worth it. Windows was built on making task simpler. This jawnt is worse than vista...and vista was bad cause of the system requirements needed to run the operating system.

I'm 27. started with a dos jawnt that was given to me in 96 before i got a windows 95 machine in 97. I wouldn't upgrade....I don't need a mobile IOS on my computer. No way you can have multiple tabs open in that metro UI. I can have youtube playing music in one tab or in a side by side window if i want to see the video while i'm typing something. Bet you can't even right click in metro UI to choose what program you want to open a picture with!

It's bloatware from microsoft that can't be deleted like the dell and hp crap.

funny how it goes to the aero desktop to map a network drive.
You should be able to do everything in metro UI. They ain't got a tile for that, lol

microsoft bloatware. metro should have been a gadget on the side...

is it full time metro/modern UI for your htpc? or does it go to the desktop for things. I think M$ should have fully commited to the OS and maybe it would have faired better on a laptop/desktop because M$ would have been forced to include certain things in the metro UI.

it's funny cause it looks like a cool phone, but seeing the desktop didn't impress me and the reviews confirmed it. I like the metro information center for a phone when I want to get a quick qimpse of things....but when i set down at the computer I need something serious.

I like windows 7 cause I can have my random icons on the desktop like a quick web link, random note pad thoughts, folder with work, pandora gadget or the files for a current project sitting on the desktop. I don't like having everything organized into picture folder or documents.

I just have a bad feeling with the windows app store you gonna have to "jailbreak" your computer at some point to get certain programs, lol.

Yea it takes you to the desktop for certain things but I reaply on use windows media center, xbmc,& netfilx and all of those have a tile in metro

I wouldn't use it to do everything I do on my laptop but for a htpc its great

I imagine its even better on a tablet since the OS seems to be built for touch screen capabilities

The only bad thing I have to say is its annoying when you mistakenly swipe the screen away when you're trying moving the mouse cursor but other then that I like it

and the thing that pisses me off most and I will not buy windows 8...the intelligence insults of saying there are programs you can download/buy to make it boot to desktop as default...and make metro a program on the desktop. THEN WHAT THE HELL DID WE PAY MICROSOFT TO DO?!? if I have to jailbreak windows for a simple feature...I'm not paying for it!!!

"And that's the point. I'm guessing a lot of consumers don't get (understand) Metro. And I'm guessing that a lot of consumers aren't that savvy about using a PC and don't know about workarounds to boot to desktop mode or get the Start button back. Even though that may vastly improve their experience. "

Four months in, Windows 8 needs help | Microsoft - CNET News

Microsoft complicated their product with simplicity on top of windows power. M$ turned the desktop into an app. Metro/Modern UI is a program that should be on the desktop and nothing more! M$ didn't innovate the operating system....they cut research and development cost and put a mobile OS on the desktop! It takes money to make money!...windows 8 screams lazy innovation.

They should have released metro as a side project. I really think they blew it this time. I don't see this UI catching on anytime soon and they can't back out.

you can back out....just like vista unless pride gets in the way.The PC is dominated by windows xp and windows 7!!!! you have a customer base. Just drop a windows 7 service pack to add some of the underlying windows 8 improvements.

M$ needs to focus on ecosystems/web services. You beat google/android with webbased services. I mean you have the best office suite and could kill google docs easily. Skydrive & Skype in the arsenal. YOU WORK ON THE PHONE. Add the appropriate ribbons like on outlook.com to the bing website and you good to go. Make a ITunes equivalent and you good to go.

and you know the funny thing. I like outlook/Hotmail web set-up better than googles! I love how you can use office on skydrive.

The can't back out in sense that they released the OS and they have to support it now. Also, it looks like they banked on Metro for the future, so to pullout after a few months with no plan b would be bad.

let me give an analogy for windows 8.

if M$ made a TV...they would come up with some fancy touchscreen controls so I can get oil and grease on my screen the times I need to touch it. AND ditch the remote control for a kinects camera and require that you do the WB Frog Dance to change the channel to the CW....and market that jawnt as you saving money on batteries and time looking for lost remotes!!! :comeon:

M$ making life simpler....haha!
