Even if LeBron wins another ring this year (which I hope and think he will), he'd still arguably not be on say, Shaq's level in terms of accomplishments, let alone Jordan, Kobe and Duncan. Shaq has always been the better comparison with Bron in my eyes.
- Both depend heavily on their physical superiority and both have a reputation for underachieving compared to expectations.
- Shaq has four rings (including a three-peat) with all of them coming on teams with at least one other superstar. LeBron has two rings, possibly three soon and also all of them on teams with another major star (I count Kyrie as a blooming superstar).
- Both have incredible individual stats and are among the best to ever play the game when at their peaks. Neither are touching MJ's rings or impact though.
I think this year will be Bron's last or second to last ring. He's definitely proved to be on a comparable level with MJ in terms of individual all-around play and lived up to his hype in that sense. Legacy-wise, however, MJ will end up being remembered as the goat even after LeBron hangs it up. What puts LeBron that much ahead of Shaq for him to have a better chance at being compared favorably to MJ than Shaq? Just the MVP's?
