Yea that "my kids are watching" line is BS. I had this discussion with a co-worker today who said he didn't like it because it could impact kids and the way they play the game. Guess what ethnicity he is?
Anyway, I asked if he felt the same way about his kids watching hockey where fighting is part of the game and the refs step back and the let the players go at it for a minute or so. He said "well, um, that's kinda part of the game, so I could accept that alittle better. Plus football is way more popular than football, so the impact is bigger when football players are fighting and talking trash." Pure f#ckery in his response. So, a sport can legalize fighting in front of fans and on national TV, but if a dude talks trash after a game, then he's the thug who needs to be watched out for?
Racism comes out in all different forms. People think its lynchings and Trayvon Martin, but even these kind of responses say a lot about how people view black men and their "out of line" behavior in comparison to their own. That black men should be docile, thankful for any opportunity and do everything to present a non-threatening image.
But at the end of the day, what are black people going to do to punish Madden for his words? Nothing, but keep buying his video games. So, more BS n#ggadom.
Peace
