Heavily Armed
Like, Liquid Swords or Cuban Linx-level polish and sound quality. RZA was on another level compositionally.
Edit: ya know what you're right. ODB would be heralded as a genius and be the biggest star in hip hop immediately.ODB would be the breakout star of the group it they came out now
I'd take it as is. Too much shyt today is computerized, overproduced or underproduced gaebage. Part of the reason I gravitate to Griselda. Conductor Williams might really be the new RZA.

True, but that Gritty basement sound at the time actually added to the appeal IMO. It's perfect the way it is if you look at it that way. They had low budget equipment I am sure at the time and that changed by the time Liquid Swords etc. came around and that was more clean sound. I take 36 for what it is and what they had at the time and it worked.Like, Liquid Swords or Cuban Linx-level polish and sound quality. RZA was on another level compositionally.

RZA mentioned something that never dawned on meODB would be the breakout star of the group it they came out now
Carlos Bess said they used great equipment on 36 Chambers, RZA just made it sound like shyt on purpose. All the radio edits are way cleaner than the rest of the albumTrue, but that Gritty basement sound at the time actually added to the appeal IMO. It's perfect the way it is if you look at it that way. It worked.... The sounding like shyt on purpose made a classic album. I don't doubt thy had equipment but later on as said the sound was just more clean and polished on the solo albums sides Tical which sounded gritty as well. I still wish we got a Deck solo in those days with all Rza on the boards, that is something we needed as well.Carlos Bess said they used great equipment on 36 Chambers, RZA just made it sound like shyt on purpose. 36 chambers is perfect the way it is.
