Not saying that cloud and/or streaming won't be a viable option in the future because I absolutely believe it will. How soon? A decade at the earliest IMO. Still will need some kind of set top box though.
What I'm saying is that strictly on peer to peer games, cloud computation is extreme overkill and waste of resources for what it will be used for. Current peer to peer gaming, esp on sports titles, is more than adequate. The additional computation for extra shyt is not necessary from a cloud environment. It's being done adequately now without it. Granted, there are things that the additional processing can help in for more eye candy, but no Publisher/Dev is going to want to spend the extra money for some bells and whistles breh for minor shyt. They just are not.
I'm very interested in this though for next gen shyt. Additional processing is cool, but if it's being used in games where nothing is really being pushed graphically, no one gives a fukk.
Its not overkill in P2P games.
People are asking for it in single player games. The game doesn't even have to be multiplayer to benefit from it.
And no physics, lighting, ect isn't "good enough" now. Improving them beyond what can be done local is not extreme overkill.
And yes plenty of people give a shyt for it being used for things other than "better graphics"
You sound like a old dude mad a new tech. Literally every argument you are making here has been said in the past.
Hell, just 5 year ago people claimed the new consoles weren't needed cause graphics were "good enough"
Before that they claimed hard drives and Ethernet ports were "overkill"
There's already games being developed now using the tech. It will continue to grow. When gamers start to be able to compare games that use it to games that don't use it, they will demand it in there games.
EA can't even market levelution anymore once crackdown comes out.
