With the release of HIM, it’s time to have an honest discussion about Jordan Peele

@Ziggiy I will say I think Sinners (and to a lesser extent Weapons) is why he pulled his 2026 movie and now starting over from scratch.

He knows he has to go hard with his next film HE DIRECTS. Which is a shame cause I thought Nope was dope. However, he must get the sense he needs to deliver a classic.
I couldn't get with NOPE
Just wasn't on the same level as US and Get Out but it wasn't bad

I rewatched NOPE again recently was great. Very 80s Spielberg, I get why a lot of people were not feeling it as much.

But he needs his next movie to crush the buildings with no doubts. Masybe he needs to just go back to basics.

The crazy thing with HIM is that the script was very well regarded on the Blacklist, but it seems it just didn't translate to the screen that well. As it seemed like a sure bet for success. Which is why he chose to help produce it.

Jordan Peele didn’t write nor direct HIM. His production company helped get the film financed which warrants him a producer’s credit. This isn’t even the first time he’s produced a horror film, he also produced the Candy Man reboot and the HBO series Lovecraft Country.

This thread is based on faulty premise and therefore the discussion is bullshyt

Nah foh they advertised Peele’s name more than the actual director to get folks to buy tickets

Peeles named majorly advertised for it. The movie was titled like a Peele film (HIM). Commercials and trailers were created in Peeles styles looking 100% like a peele film.

They feel smart running in here saying it wasn’t his film while trying to ignore that everything surrounding it has Peeles footprint on it.

They plaster his name all over as some sort of seal of Quality. So when the shyt sucks he gotta deal with that too
:dead:

No he doesn't. Again, he didn't write or direct it.

The only interesting thing here to me is that Peele wanted to produce Weapons but his team fumbled the play, allowing the film to be financed elsewhere. Producing is about ideas and vision, and clearly he does not lack for those qualities. Him sounds pretty good on paper, the problem was the obnoxious marketing and the fact that it looks like a music video director made it.

Movie was ass cheeks and at some point it seemed like the director and the editors were throwing in every special effect they had as if they paid for an effects bundle didn’t want to waste it.

All that was missing from this was the obligatory space aliens who had their own quarterback.

BTW, Sinners was mid AF
