Background: A young, talented Shelton Benjamin was rising up with show stealing feats and athleticism that rivaled some of the best professional sports stars around. Shelton, holding all the potential in the world, never will be a hall of famer but he always showed flashes of being able to hold his own with anyone. During the gold rush tournament sanctioned by former gm Eric Bischoff allowed for a match up for the ages. Shelton, a fan favorite faced off with arguably the greatest wrestler of all time in an underrated match. Considering how many classic matches Mr. Wrestlermania has had, Shawn Michaels seemed to show the world and shelton that he could indeed hang woth one of the best if he was motivated. Maybe it was stale gimmicks, weak angles, or just because Shelton was lazy and conplacent but during this match we saw a glimpse of a two men whose styles just meshwd well

The match isn't underrated at all. Everyone said it was very good from the get go. Shelton wasn't lazy. He was just held back after he outworked the roster....he had two matches with Michaels and made Michaels look old and out of place twice.

Vs Cripple H, Kurt Angle, he carried La Resistance like they were better than they were in that Montreal Triple Threat, he and Jericho had a PPV saving match at Taboo Tuesday 2004, he outworked everyone in that Vengeance 03 classic, fans were chanting for him at NWO 04 during the Acolyte match, had a stand out match with RVD at Backlash, when he faced Cena in Dec 05, it was the first time you could clearly hear the divide between males and kids with the duel chants....next to Jericho in 08, he made everyone look second rate almost weekly....from saving Punk and Elijah Burke with their overly botching asses in that Triple Threat to carrying Kennedy and having a great physical match with Finlay, had a very good US title match defense in Toronto against Shane Helms, etc.

You'll never get Kurt Angle and everyone to say that. John Cena outright saying Shelton leaves him in the dust in the ring like 3x a year since 2006...yeah..alot of rambling there too. So u considered burke vs punk vs benjamin moty caliber and up there with both hbk vs shelton bouts? Or do h have actual matches where shelton had moty level bouts with anyone besides shawn? Cause all u said was he outworked and cqrried guys and named names but didnt name any matches. Beaides hbk I honeatly think he had one really good match with jericho and the rest were just ok matches with some memorable spots here or there. No classic promos either. To me he qas an under achiever
