Thats a VERY good point and something I was mentioning in the AD thread from earlier today

His ability to cover space on defense is downright frightening - @GoldenGlove remember the game he had against the Bulls last season where we were discussing that?
The game where he made Noah his bytch? Yea, I remember that

Not really good at all, considering you may have given up a lottery pick for a rental.

:beli:

That's like buying shyt with money you don't have. Pretty pointless to be clearing space for a one-dimensional 5, that doesn't provide impact/production equal to his contract, with a gaping hole at the 3 and only the MLE.
Is the 2015 draft this super draft class that I'm aware of? I doubt, especially with as good as AD is, we will be drafting anywhere close to get an impact player next year. Those 7 years for a player's first contract run up mighty fast, we don't have time to stock on raw players to team up with AD. We've already made our bed as far as "win now" and getting Asik only makes sense in that frame of mind.

Now where you think the Pels will end up and where I think the Pels will end up is simply a matter of how good we think the team will be next year. So I won't waste time debating that. But with the pick being protected, we still look to be in good shape even if it is this huge crucial notion that we just have to keep the '15 pick.

Asik doesn't need to this big time All Star, playing next to AD, who if you haven't realized is going to be REALLY good, will easily make his "value" seem more and he will do all the dirty work we need a C to do in order to let AD wreak havoc.

Edit: Ok the pick isn't protected but that still doesn't phase me because unless the 2014 draft class suddenly moves to 2015, I don't see any prospects in the 10-17 range that we are losing out on. And Asik can easily be resigned if we find a way to let EG go. We can't just call Asik a "rental" until it becomes apparent that we have no plans of resigning him.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Don't get me wrong, he's a great compliment to AD, but they traded a pick for a rental. They clearing all this space, for a position they don't really need - and only the MLE for the 3 which they desperately need. By the time it's time to re-up, they gonna be back to square one. It's not a bad trade, just a rather pointless one.

@houston911 -

ESPN:

"The draft pick included in the deal has protections. It will go to the Rockets if it falls between picks 4-19, sources said."

I don't agree that it's a position they don't need, their center rotation was absolutely awful this season, where as Evans had some success playing the 3 towards the end of the year. Getting a 5 is more about protecting Davis than anything else in my opinion.

That said, they basically already fukked up building around Davis though, so one extra shytty move ontop of the other shytty moves at this point is :ld: At least Davis wont have to defend 5s.

man, that pelicans front court is gonna be dirty...for a year, at least. then they're gonna have to decide whether to pay out the ass to keep him or not. plus, they lost their pick. :patrice: still, asik and davis with anderson off the bench...it's gonna be fun to watch.

should be interesting to see what happens next in houston.

They could also bring back Morrow as well, Isn't Gordon's contract going to be an expiring one next season, if so, that's a big ass trade asset with it being worth 15 million.

So their lineup is now:

Holiday
Gordon
Evans
Davis
Asik

Bench of:
Rivers
Pierre
Withey
Morrow
2nd Round Pick

That's a fukking intriguing team next year. Won't win cause the West is stupid loaded, but shyt If that team can stay together and grow, boy that could be scary team in the future :whew:

EDIT: shyt I forgot to add Anderson to that as well.

nah...season ticket-holder here...this team needs to be blown up...

gordon...evans...and rivers need to be on the 1st thing smoking out of N.O.

gordon is a gunner...thats always hurt...and isnt very affective when he does play...evans? a Sg that cant shoot...if the lane is cut off...he's useless...rivers? :skip:...under-sized Sg....thats forced to play point....he can shoot...but still thinks hes in one of his high-school highlight tapes at times (actually too much of the time)....

anybody not named Davis should be available....:sas2:

This is a bad trade for New Orleans, though. They are going to take on the contract of Asik (poison pill) and it may just be a rental given his contract situation. Also, they may not even keep that pick, because it's protected through 10.

Morey does it again.:russ:
