Kawhi Leonard Has Reportedly Purchased Property In Toronto

Few things in NBA free agency rumor circles spark more speculation than real estate. It usually goes something like: Player X has bought a house in City Y so he’s obviously signing with Team Z.
The NBA’s upcoming free agency class is a massive one, so there’s already been plenty of speculation fueled by property records.
Kyrie Irving has reportedly purchased a home back in the New York City area, while Kevin Durant is rumored to have relocated his company’s headquarters to the Big Apple.
Now, we have a Kawhi Leonard update.
A Toronto sports radio host said this week that Leonard has reportedly purchased property in Toronto.
“We have heard he’s purchased a property in Toronto,” Michael Landsberg said on Toronto 1050. “We’ve heard this now from two different sources, indicating there’s something there.”
Most of the speculation about Kawhi has been California focused. He reportedly bought a home in the San Diego area last year and most predictions have him signing with the Clippers.
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne believes he’ll sign with one of Southern California’s teams.
“I just think the guy has been pretty clear. He wants to be back home in California. he has a house there which he has wanted the whole time. He wanted that before anything went south with the Spurs. This is a pretty consistent desire. It’s not like Paul George, where like Paul George, he’s from Palmdale but he likes fishing and that kind of a lifestyle. That’s very Oklahoma,” she said.
TrueHoop’s David Thorpe, meanwhile, believes Kawhi will stay in Toronto.
“Of course, he’s about to be a free agent. And because of that, as the media you might expect to hear sunny things about Kawhi’s return from Raptors sources eager to tamp down the impression Kawhi is bound for the Clippers or another team,” Thorpe said.
“But even before the Finals began, we at TrueHoop heard from plugged-in sources associated with players and the league—but not the team—that Kawhi would return to Toronto, at least on a short-term deal.”

For now, though, Kawhi is simply focused on the NBA Finals, where his Raptors are tied, 1-1, heading into Game 3.
Game 3 is set for Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
