It’s incredible to read how institutionalized so many people are in the working class ….these nikkas be out here peddling nonsense corporate talking points without having any concept of their actual rights as employee’s…. It’s sad when you think about it but it explains why we have incredible wage stagnation in comparison to CEO’s over the past several decades … I feel sorry for a lot of these nikkas man :picard:
Yup. Some people have literally accepted getting paid small and let their company walk all over them while their co-workers are thriving. The same tools and rights are right there for them but for some reason they're not taking it.

Folks gotta know their worth. Only companies stand to lose when you know your worth.

Like some folks are simply stuck in their ways and think you're supposed to bust your ass like that. Nah, go ahead and pick up your reward (get your rights back) for that labor. Times change and these kids are not only making great strides when it comes to demanding high salary and terraforming workforce culture but they're fighting for your timid ass too.

Companies got no choice but to respect what the youth want, because the youth are the future. Even Jack Ma said that's how it works.

Might as well form up with them because 99.9% of the CEO's out there are not going to leave the company to you vs their next of kin no matter how much you bust your ass. Let them pay you big for building their family's generational wealth off your labor. Seek win-win situations.

Wouldn’t be an issue if companies didn’t play games.

No one wants to follow rigid bureaucracies, wear button-down shirts, spend 60+ hours in a cubicle, take a 2 hour commute, etc.

They especially don't want to do all that to get paid peanuts/get underpaid. Maybe some folks still want to because they had to go through it, but young people don't want to and won't.

Clout or not, she's part of the population that are airing this whole bs out and I'm glad. That dinosaur system needs to go. It's one of the reasons why the software industries have blown up, while traditional "engineering" disciplines are losing their workforce.

Read the discussion, people are cosigning:

$70k - $90k salary for an experienced electrical engineer, after four years of traditional school amounting to an insane amount of debt, fukk outta here.

I've met junior software engineers who make about $160k after self-teaching themselves on youtube, udemy or freecodecamp.

Not many.

What part of the aspect of at will employment not being absolute, do you not understand??? :dahell: At-will employment means you can fire anyone you want for reasons that don't violate LOCAL, STATE, or FEDERAL LAW!

Ask me this, do you think companies can fire someone because they complained to the NLRB that they were being paid under the federal minimum wage??? Or they weren't paid federally mandated overtime? Or for unsafe working conditions? Smart dumb idiot...:jbhmm:

Literally wikpedia, has this in the first line of at-will employment,

fukking dummies man

You are pretty slow. Your tik tok usage is not protected by law. At will employment literally means they don't have to give you any specific reason why they fired you. Your examples are cases where there is documented clear cut evidence with paper trails and pay stubs of violations. Unless she has proof amd documented evidence of them saying disclosimg her salary was the sole reason they fired her she is out of luck.

“I fired his black ass because aT WiLL EmPloyMent says I don’t needs No ReaSons” :dead:
They fire black folks unjustly all the time. Unless you they are dumb enough to say thats the reason on a recording or document or you can establish a pattern of them only firing black folks you have no recourse.

So you're just going to skip when I said if her TikTok usage was the reason for her termination, then they'd have to fire EVERY person in that company who posts on TikTok.

When it comes to salary discussion, the medium is irrelevant, which is clearly stated by federal law.

But continue to lick those boots breh.

If it's really that complicated for you, "a company can't specifically mandate that you can't use social media to discuss salary discussion".

This is what tech companies are paying and the type of people that work at them.

She can light them up if she shows they're being petty over 20k and no other engineer would want to work over there.

Transparency important. You have to be smart though. You should never put your business on social media

Not illegal in Illinois. I know a friend who got hired at a dental office and she explicit said in her hiring contract it forbid her from discussing any wage increases with co workers
Just because a random dummy put it in a contract doesn't mean it's legal. As clearly seen in this thread people don't know any better. It's a federal law

I work in FAANG and my co-workers talk about compensation every time and use that for ammo. Maybe that's why I'm so :gucci: at this discussion.

Y’all nikkas really going out sad damn near bragging about not knowing your own state laws and letting jobs take advantage of you illegally bruh :snoop:

Who do I contact if I believe this law has been violated?
You should call the Illinois Department of Labor at the Equal Pay Hotline 866-372-4365.

We are CLEARLY talking about specific cases like hers where the reason for termination is solely wage discussion as mentioned in the fukking story … stop spamming this thread with your intentional obtusity and rambling about nonsense ..you’re only wasting your own time ..she literally says in the video (that I’m sure your dumbass didn’t watch) that she was fired for the content of her TikTok’s …the content she referenced was her wage transparency discussion …she was fired for talking about her salary ..she didn’t get fired for tik toking about dandelions or a meteor shower you daft ass weirdo :russ:

They fire black folks unjustly all the time.
And “they” get sued all the time dummy :what:

Look at this idiot NOW trying to qualify his babble after he’s been intellectually embarrassed …LMAO but wait ..why would this bolded part matter if “buhhh buh buhh they can fire you for AnyThing” like you said? :dead: go take a fukking break you’re embarrassing yourself in here goofy

My salary is online since I work for the state. So are my coworkers. I negotiate using that information when it comes time for raises/promotions. Just got a 20 percent increase a few months ago.x
