Victims and their neighbors don't give AF about statistics or crime figures. They get robbed and don't see the perp arrested and given football years, they'll change their voting patterns.

Even if this is true, it doesn't change the fact that the numbers don't support a crime bill. Black people will likely regret supporting such measures because it will likely a) eventually have a negative impact on them or a close relative b) not have as much of a positive impact as they would expect, either in the short or long term.

No one is asking to be criminalized, it's the exact opposite, but Black people who have been alive in this country for a while understand that Black people don't have the benefit of being treated as individuals, what a small few do is taken by the dominant society as representation of what all of us do.

I think you're missing the overall point here which is that the more this happens and the more people are victimized, the more desperate they become for immediate solutions, whether those solutions might negatively impact law-abiding Black people is an afterthought, the concern at the fore is getting the criminals off the street before they're the next victims.

Looking him up, I didn't realize he was the son of Kathy Boudin. A middle-class tourist from the '60s, viewing radicalism as a great adventure, building bombs in Greenwich Village townhouses and driving heavy radicals to armed robberies and the like. Only viewing the cause she ostensibly fought for as an abstract rather than a reality. Not surprisingly, she got out on parole while her co-conspirators in the Brinks robbery rot in jail.

He's apparently his mother's son, which explains the recall, I guess.

If the people who do this don’t care about the repercussions for the rest of us, why should I care whether of not they get locked up?

We had 2 stimuli, and MONTHS of extended unemployment with an additional $600 a week. Everybody is hiring. Tons of jobs are willing to train you.
