Bryan losing in 18 seconds to Sheamus. The fans were pissed, but instead of Bryan getting buried, it elevated him into the beloved star of the show. While CM Punk was failing to live up to his own standard set, Bryan elevated himself to become more charismatic with Kane/Team Hell No. When CM Punk rage quit, it forced Bryan into the main event and he has become the icon CM Punk wanted to be, but never could.
Punk been gone 9 months and still gets chants :sas1:
Bryan been gone half the time, he dont get no chants :sas2:

While truth in Punk gets chants, they are only prevalent in Chicago. Daniel Bryan gets a louder reaction everywhere. Fans saw easily that Punk couldn't keep up the part of the bargin when people started going, "Remember the time when Punk threw out a pipebomb." and then Punk & Pipebomb got old fast. Not that fans hated Punk, but they saw quickly that Punk tried to become Stone Cold, and instead became Coldstone.

Great Khali having "elevated enzymes" kept us from seeing him vs Taker in a punjabi prison match

These fairy tales are very strange. When Punk was face he was the most over face. When he turned heel he was the most over heel. Pretending otherwise is just sad.

Theres been varying degrees of Punk chants damn near every week for 9 straight months since he left. Hell, some guy mentions the word "best" on Impact and we get Punk chants in TNA.

:dahell: Please. Punk could never be the most over face, just because the dude has emotional problems. Heel, definitely, but face, not a chance.

Another odd response.

A) Those things have nothing to do with each other and B) You must not have been watching.

:umad: Oh it does, because Punk was acting a cornball, you know he wanted to be a heel. Its like watching a Randy Orton as a Face. Punk cannot be a face ever, the reactions you heard were IWC Virgins thinking Punk was going to save Wrestling and then they drowned out when they found out Punk was not saving anything. Sure Punk got the longest title reign in such a while, but the product he promised to improve didn't.

I guess every arena for 2 years was full of nothing but IWC virgins

Wow, this is one of the biggest lies I've seen on this board to date. Just straight up fiction.

Punk was, in all metrics (ratings, crowd reaction, merch sales, etc.), the number two babyface in the company right up until he left. And arguably was reaching for number one for a time in 2011. And even when he was getting his heat killed by the Triple H/Nash/Laurinaitis fiasco, his reactions were not affected much at all. Dude was, as I said, top level in every metric that mattered.

I know the board hates Punk now, but can we please stop with the fictions regarding his status. You guys are worse than Vince was with Warrior.

:rudy: Punk had his own creative control. WWE bent over backwards for him with them getting rights to Cult of Personality, allowing him to go against creative, his own bus and allowing him with a match with Taker. The heat he lost was by himself, because he even said he wanted to leave the WWE before the pipebomb promo. As far as babyface, not a chance because of so called "metrics", the fanbase of WWE today is not just the hardcore wrestling enthusiasts but females/children/family which for Punk would NEVER happen. Cena would always be number one and Punk knew that.
