no xabi alonso as a holding and xavi and iniesta as centre mids, there is a difference...notice i didnt say attacking as they dont possess the qualities of attacking midfielders (especially Xavi). Both players will distribute well enough INTO the attacking third while xabi alonso protects the backline. But they wont venture as much into the attacking third, in terms of off ball runs or even dribble into the 18..just alot of passing to the striker and wingers..Just my Opinion tho

Xabi is more a regista aka deep-lying playmaker. Sorta what marco senna did for them at 08 euros. There only pure DM is javi martinez and busquests i would say.

spain has too many options in the midfield...their biggest weakness is size and poor midfield play against more athletic midfields...LOL John obi Mikel dominated that midfield in the confed cup
