I disagree. Marriages are facilitated in this way to provide the best possible spouse for their children (Good family? Good income/profession? Moral upright? Etc)

I think you’re misunderstanding what happens in this scenario:
1) Your parents suggest you meet X for the prospect of marriage; X purportedly has xyz qualities, qualifications and income etc.
2) You meet X. If you’re attracted to them, you begin courting. If not, politely decline and discontinue the courtship.

It still relies upon you exercising judgment
