Would be nice to see the "strong Black woman" image back in Hip Hop again but that'll never happen

I don't think it's gonna happen. That's not what sells

I think anything is markletable with the right push and a few hot songs. Like Immortal Tech said, if there is a market for sh*t eating and piss porn then there's a market for anything. In 2010 I never Ever thought Kendrick would be as big as he is now....I had him pegged in underground limbo with Joey Badass, Glasses Malone and Big Krit. Enter Intescope and a co sign fro Dr Dre and BAM!......One of the top rappers in the game now.

originally from the 'ville
Rapsody is dope, I've only heard the "She Got Game" tape but it was nice, I'd like to see her get some exposure

Jean Grae seems good too, but I've only heard like a few songs

^^I was just thinking about this the other day, like how is Kendrick famous? He compared to everyone else he seems very "concious", I'm starting to believe that money --> radio spins can make anything profitable.

new blood coming up underground that chicks are getting behind. and theyre hungry & mad young. prolly like 18-20.

and theyre picking the bar back up off the ground, somewhat.

VERY un-polished talents tho, imo. this is where mentorship is lackin in hip-hop. we need to get back to that, instead of a bunch of random niccas gassin people up from the sideline.

but theres enough potential here to work with.

I still can't believe how Queen Latifah did a complete character change. Her fat ass used to have hits, and was on some pro black shyt. Nowadays she cheesing for cacs and played mad maid/servant roles. She a clown. I would still nut on them tittyballs she got tho

Bahamadia couldn't shine in this era..Social medi would go in on her gap tooth and make that the center of her image the same way they've done Conseqence's teeth. Yet she was allowed to shine in an era when the hate wasn't as strong in pop culture.

Shame ain't it.

Damn, this is nice, that 3rd verse:wow:

I believe LBoogie not doing a follow-up to Miseducation was the death blow to aspiring female rappers (the Latifahs of the world) ever being viable in the mainstream market again:sadbron:

that's exactly what I believe in a sense.

lauryn coming through and crushin the buildings had people changing their WHOLE perspective on life

people don't quite understand the impact she had.

maybe she didn't understand it either.
