Nobody said that Black people didn’t need more families. Y’all sound really dumb. Like y’all were in the class with 6 students and 2 teachers, back in elementary school.

I’m not a fan of social media and I do think it’s been negative overall. But how has social media prevented more black families? The black marriage rate has been on the decline since before social media. no one is being prevented from getting married now if they want it. Other groups are still getting married even with social media around.

I wouldn't call forums and message boards social media
Discussion forums=OG form of social media

Social media is a collective term for websites and applications that focus on communication, community-based input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration. People use social media to stay in touch and interact with friends, family and various communities

social media is ubiquitous already, it's too late to go back.

but it's still in its infancy. to put things in context, people had the same complaint about the printing press centuries ago. at the time they thought anyone with money can suddenly print out insane books and pamphlets. people lost their shyt

social media needs about 20 more years before it smoothens out. right now, because everyone is on it, it's still like the wild west

Wasn't my intention to make that argument, I answered the thread saying yes we're better off without social media.

Someone countered and said alot of black millionaires have been made from it. I said I think we're better off with creating strong black families.

I don't have any data on social media destroying families, but I do know that a bunch of black people having millions individually does not mean anything if your culture is morally bankrupt and part of that culture is social media

Social media is so vast that the only answer is no.

Social media has helped families connect with each other(on Facebook/IG). And there's been plenty of great people that emerged from the platforms.

Only associating social media with the lowest common denominator is a grave mistake. Hell, social media has played a huge role in raising awareness for reparations and the #AADOS hashtag.
