Phil Jackson - 6.7ppg

Gregg Popovich - Didn't make it to the league, played for Air Force.

Pat Riley - 7.4ppg

Rick Carlisle - 2.2ppg

Larry Brown - 11.2ppg

Doc Rivers - 10.9ppg

The Van Gundy's - Played college ball

I mean, the list of good to great coaches that were just rotational players, or dudes who didn't make it to the league is staggering by comparison :yeshrug:
Of course it is. But that doesn't mean there aren't great players who can be good coaches as well, it's just certain personalities. There's not that many elite players that attempt coaching in relative comparison either.

I think great gm, scout or training coach. Being competitive I think he'd probably pick someone to put a stamp on him to continue dominating the league through that person..

Secondly I think he'd want to be a GM or owner like Michael Jordan and compete on that level. Kobe won't have the patience to coach and get paid relative peanuts when with his name he can probably leverage his way into ownership

also would be great in the studio. people would hang on to his every word

It's a wrap for Kobe but i think he can be a good head coach for the Lakers. For some reason, i don't see him leaving the Nba scene. He'll be around.
Boy I tell ya you dudes in here are so dumb it's amazing :mjlol:

Kobe can't even lead but you somehow think he would be a good head coach..

God, man how old are you?

Do you have a HS diploma?

Only in college simply because college coaches are control freaks,Kobe is a control freak and in college coaches have all of the control.

He has the work ethic for it. He just doesnt strike me as the type people would run through a wall for.

Most of his teammates either okay with him or hate him. Rarely do you hear teammates love him for "taking them under his wings" or helping them improve their games

Magic was terrible during his stint and everybody loved Magic.

I just don't understand how anyone can think with Kobe's temperment and they way he is that he would be a good coach

:mindblown:

I'd want Kobe to be a scout or possibly in something like picking out defensive tendencies. Maybe player development?

As a coach, no. Just like Jordan, he's simply too talented (And yes, Kobe's work ethic is as much a talent as Curry's shooting or Lebron's athleticism) and hard working to see eye to eye with less talented or able players. Managing personalities is a part of coaching.

Remember when Magic coached the Lakers. Kept trying to bring back showtime with full court pressure and frenetic pace.

Did not work out well.

I don't know if he has the mindset to be a coach. There are some players who turned into coaches, who just because they know the game doesn't make them an effective coach.
Doesn't he have enough money to just retire?

I think he certainly has the mind for it...personality wise obviously there'd be some questions bout his interpersonal skills...there's precedent though, guys like thibbs ain't exactly mr congeniality...the whole no-nonsense authoritative type thing could maybe work for him if he were able to cherrypick his way to the sweetest gig imaginable with absolutely 0 experience on some Steve Kerr shyt...or like Larry Bird coach a really good team and then fall back to gm or team president when it's rebuild time...don't think he'd be good at all with a young team devoid of talent to win in the short short term

you are right . the more i think about it, i don't think he is ready to be a coach. however, i do see him being a manager or something similar. but if i was kobe, i would be a family guy. he has tons of cash and he can just chill for the rest of his life. plus, his wife is super sexy.:shaq:

i don't want him to be an announcer like shaq... i just think he contribute so much behind the scene..
