You compare their radio appearances after Ether and Super Ugly, Nas was laughing and clowning Jay, while Jay was stuttering, voice cracking like he was about to cry.
There was a lot more facts in Ether than Hov stans care to admit. You think Hov was shook like that off "schoolyard insults?"
Most factual track of the feud was Last Real Nikka Alive where Nas dismissed him from class.
Far as the thread topic Jay couldn't have gone that route because Nas had been calling him out for being a sellout and a shallow pop artist. BP2 was seen as weak in real time because of all them shameless cac pandering pop attempts.
That's another reason Super Ugly failed, it played right into what Nas saying. Called him a woman hater in Ether, then his response is to humiliate a woman to try and get at Nas. Then all of a sudden the next year he's on that Excuse Me Miss, Bonnie and Clyde wave
Now what's fortunate for Jay is that Nas ain't drop a Made You Look type track right after Super Ugly, where he was just clowning on Jay mercilessly and treating him like a joke

It would've been even funnier if it went the other way. Because like Kendrick, Nas isn't a guy that typically makes radio hits so if Nas suddenly followed up Ether with a MASSIVE hit with a Neptunes beat and Kelis singing just shytting on Jay and having bytches singing "fukk Gay-Z!" he might've actually hurt his career

Yea OP you have it backwards, Jay would be Drake in that situation and Nas would be Kendrick. Somebody already said it would be like Nas immediately coming with “Made You Look” after “Ether”.
