Lets assume your girl friend is buying a washer and dryer. The dryer can be delivered and installed, but the washer cant. So you'll have to help her rent a pickup and dolley, bring it to her spot, then bring it up the stairs (on the dolley).

You need those straps that go over your shoulders and under the washer.
You also need a man to hold the other side of the washer.

Of note, my girl helped me move a 200 lb bed up the stairs and around the corner a few years back so I kinda owe her.
