I've been privy to this plenty of times, where someone started with the "we can work things out because of the kids" but it's the most passively aggressive atmosphere Seeing that as a normal marriage can never be good for kids

This happened to me and I got back together with him. I felt really guilty about it because I told myself that I would never do that. I loved him and we were together for a while and I thought that we could work it out. Of course, I could never trust him afterwards. However, I was very honest and told him that this would happen. And then he continued lying and I found out that he was still cheating. Both times I had to snoop to find out. It was done and over with by then.

I agree you have to and this is coming from someone that made the mistake of still wanting to be with someone after they were cheated on. If the person was willing i dont care what they say they dont value you properly.
