Talking about lifetime earnings. The lifetime earnings of someone making $100k/year is around $8 million, and that is working 40 years at the minimum. Wanting to retire early, you'll need lifetime earnings around $12 million (assuming you'll retire at 50-55). And you have to think about aging, you may live into your 90s as well.
People are willing to sacrifice their time to make 50k just so they can “retire”. Most people don’t even enjoy retirement. They wasted their prime years working.
I’ll take the 5k a month and move to Africa. Or Bali. Especially if it’s tax free, fukk it. Why would I want to stay in America![]()
You want to work every single day tho; no breaks?Ok but there's a difference between needing to work and wanting to work. And I highly doubt you would move to Africa or Bali because you would have done so already. Stop the cap.
$50k/month gives you access to the better neighborhoods, best college for your kids, etc.
You made less than 50k being deployed? Don't y'all get hazard pay and benefitsnow that i think about it i worked 12 hours a day for 7 days when i was deployed
for way less than 50k
a year![]()

If I were 20 again, I’m doing that 50K because I’m young and why the fukk not.5k tax free of course
Im too old for doing 7 days a week and 8 hours with no time off
You’ll be dead within a year

You dont need $12 million. Not even close. Everybody on r/fire would laugh you out of that subreddit

I've been in the Navy. Out to sea, I've worked 7 days a week, for 12 - 16 hours a day as an Officer. So, I as a young man could easily deal with taking the 50k a month, working 7 days a week for 8 hour days. Grind for about 4 years, investing all I make that is not needed for living expenses, I would have a pretty nice investment income to augment my normal income from a far less strenuous job I take later.
