Optic blasts are only force so you can use as much power as needed.

Optic blast is just concussive force, which can be used in daily life. You could playfully hit someone with a blast without hurting them. You could push a stranded vehicle, propel yourself into the air using the blast like a jet pack, push buttons from across the room etc.

Heat vision would almost always be lethal and you’d never have a real reason to use it unless you needed some spare matches. You’d feel safe in self defense situations (if you are willing to slice someone in half) but that’s about it.
