I know a lot of y'all might not be familiar w/ his work but I always thought Megahertz was a dope producer
Just Blaze is the best sample producer to me
The Tom Brock & Bobby Glenn samples he used...overlooked, forgotten records
Blaze got the ear for samples B
Can you provide examples sir?
Don't know how to embed
But a list of artists he sampled

Curtis Mayfield
Rose Royce
Major Harris
Weldon Irvine
Bobby Byrd
Tom Brock
best drum patterns? Timbo, possibly Organize Noise. But i would give it to timbo.I think Timbo is in discussion for best drums
no, its not even debatable. and once they broke up and it was just pharell. it took him a little minute to catch his breath and be able to do it without chad. his melodies have been suspect which is what chad was usually working on.Have the Neptunes ever produced the Lion's share of a classic album? I dont know.
Quoted for emphasisIn this thread, hip hip producers that haven't remotely did what Dre has, will be mentioned. They will most likely be East coast and popular in the early mid nineties.
Agreed, but they still are legends and made dope shyt for the better part of two decadesno, its not even debatable. and once they broke up and it was just pharell. it took him a little minute to catch his breath and be able to do it without chad. his melodies have been suspect which is what chad was usually working on.
nikkas love hating on the king Dr. Dre. Rza fit beats for any rapper? Like who? Supreme clientele ain't shyt by the way. Meant nothing to anyone outside of Wu Stan's . no one including rza, did what Dre did. Ran three hip hip dynasties, made a series of classics that were not only acclaimed but had the sales to back up the talk. GtfohI would say Dre is the most successful and the biggest name, maybe the best mixer, but not the best producer. He knows how to bring the best out of other producers and knows how to mix to make their works, hits. But those other producers still did all of the heavy lifting, and should not be discredited for that.
Because of his name, Dre is the "only producer with no failures.". His sound doesn't work for everyone and he can't tailor it to everyone. Em got bigger without Dre beats. He doesn't really fit the east coast artist - Nas is Coming is universally acknowledged as the worst track on It Was Written, The Firm album was panned and his best beat for them was Everday Thing and didn't make the album. There's Aftermath Presents...that no one likes, his beats for 50 weren't that good and got by on "it's Dre." And let's not forget his few tracks for lyricists like Rakim and Last Emp or even those beats for Rae. So, his work is regional. I'd say that Swift and Muggs may not be better producers but they west coast producers with a more universal sound.
I'd say RZA, simply because he fit any beat to any artist..and they were great. Rappers still freestyle over RZA beats. Even if you don't like his beats now, he doesn't get enough credit for mixing and being executive producer for other cirtically acclaimed releases like 12 Reasons, Supremem Clientele, Kill Bill etc.
Above The Law...Erick Sermon too to an extent..That first Epmd album doesn't get enough props for being influentialBomb Squad. Because they took producing to another level which birthed the gawd Dre.
