NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
@spliz & @FreshAIG

What are you two's thoughts?
Dre is a great but he's definitely not the greatest in my eyes. He's prolly the greatest as far as mixing and mastering and making sure all the sounds make it thru the mix with clarity. But hes also competing with Diddy in that area. Hes also dope with arrangements. Far better than Kanye. But overall. Hell nah I can't give it to him. There's other producers who I dare to say actually use their talent and do it themselves more consistently. Like I said. He's one of. But not the best.

Great point. So essentially it came from Kanye stannism. Ye lifted those Exxplosive drums and put em on This Cant Be Life. I can't remember where else Ye used those Dre drums, but it was on another joint.

honestly breh, I've never heard the "Dre has the best sounding drums" thing in my life. I'd love to hear a direct comparison between Dre, Premo, Timbaland, Havoc, etc. side by side. just the drum sound.

Tek's drums are nice too. First couple of mins:

Dre had the largest COMMERCIAL splash ...ill give u that, but hip hop is way more than that. Did dre have anything to do with Jeru the damaga, the pharcyde, de la, e40, too short, big, and the billions of other great sounds that came outta hip hop:why:...do u know the amount of classics easy moe bee is responsible for on both the east and west coast...do we need to get started on dj premier...dre is not solely the best....we can't even begin to break down Marley marl...

Dre made great music in nearby Hollywood and commercially blew...his touch is timeless flat out and I still check for whatever he touches and is said to even been a part of ...but it's Pandora's box when u start saying best hip hop producer.

What about Houston and Atlanta...
See this is the bullshyt i'm talking about. Why are we pretending dre wasnt running the streets with everyone of his commercially successful projects (excluding EM)? And even he got some burn in the black community. And yes dre is solely the best, hands down.
I've been a fan of easy mo bee since the early 90's but He's no match for dre,nor is primo, rza, pete rock etc.

What classic albums did premier produce the lion's share of?

Really? :comeon:

Sun Rises in the East - Jeru The Damaja
Step in the Arena - Gangstarr
Hard to Earn - Gangstarr
Moment of Truth - Gangstarr
Livin Proof - Group Home
Jewelz - OC
Funky Technician - Lord Finesse
Illmatic -Nas (Co-Executive producer, and producing 1/3 of the songs)
Return of the Boom Bap - KRS One

Plus the classic songs he produced and basically ushered the staple sound of 90s East Coast Hip Hop

Just off the top of my head

Krs One - MC's act like they Don't know
Biggie - 10 Crack Commandments, Unbelievable,
Jay Z - D'Evils, Bring it On
Nas - I Gave you Power, New York State of Mind, Nas is Like, 2nd Childhood, etc etc
Common - 6th Sense

Shame on you for not knowing about the GOAT Hip Hop producer
