Not really, everyone already knows C levels make a lot of money

In literally less than a minute I found partners and anybody else who is important in this BigLaw firm. They’re easily all making over 300k a year.

How would posting their salaries change anything?

Yeah ughh...all I know is that these home invasions in ATL are on the rise ,coupled with people mad at kasim Reed with the ridiculous bonuses..bad combo.

So let's say Congress is debating to force all companies, public and private, to publish every employee's salary, from the CEO on down. And this data has to be updated every year to reflect increases and bonuses but it doesn't show your benefits (like 401k match).

Would you support that bill or nah? Why or why not?

The office party could get pretty awkward...
Why the fukk would anyone REALLY wanna support this?

I support that but only internally within departments. A stranger shouldn't know how much I make but my its fair to see how I'm compensated amongst my coworkers.CEOS would be renegotiating salaries if people knew how much the people next to them were making :francis:

They tell you not to speak about salaries at work their protection and not ours.

For one it would reduce salary information asymmetry between employee and employer thus strengthening worker's bargaining position.

This is the best argument for this.
There are some good arguments against it as well, but this is the only one I care about.

Unless you are being overpaid (which lets face, we aren't cuz we're black), this will only help us in negotiating salaries

I don't want to be required. I want the businesses to do it on their own accord. Give them incentive but don't force their hand. :yeshrug:

In America, by and large politicians are all making well over 100K per year and in many cases are multi-millionaires, why on earth would they ever sponsor a bill detailing their wealth/income?

Nah. I don’t want my ole lady to know what I make :manny::francis:

Low key I think this is significant hurdle for a lot of people. They feel insecure about their income or have been lying so long that they are genuinely afraid of being exposed.

Don't let insecurity stand in the way of equality brehs.

Whoever said just make it known internally only made a great point.

Like I said, not sure about a law but if it was standard practice for salaries to be known internally and also for potential hires to be able to see salary data with maybe names not known but just positions under specific departments and managers, that would be awesome.

Imagine if you wouldn't have to play the stupid game of trying not to negotiate too high or too low when going into an interview? Like someone said, the secrecy of salaries is only meant for employers, not employees protection.

Information is power.

I have no idea why anyone would oppose this. The excuses for why it wouldn't work are bad, government salaries are already public I don't know any of them getting robbed or stalked by family :what:
I'm assuming most ppl in here are black, why the fukk wouldn't you finally want to know if you are being paid fairly compared to your white coworkers, many of whom you may actually be better than
Stupid shyt like new people getting paid $10k more than you because they were hired two years after you "in a more competitive market" would be dead. Workers would actually have leverage and information to argue for increases across the board (just like in sports). Every time some one got a big raise other people could then use that as leverage for their own raise. I'm having a hard time thinking of an actual downside

Is that a question?? Why would robberies be on the rise if c level executives have their salaries posted and anyone can find addresses online?!

:stopitslime:

We already know a lot of it is stock based compensation. Tim Cook and Zuckerberg have security already....people know where they live.

But this is more about people that actually make salaries without stock based compensation.
