Britney did 1.32m in 2000 in an era where EVERYONE bought music. Taylor doing 1.29m in 2014 where NOONE bought music is a wild achievement. That to me is just as impressive, if not more than Britney's shyt.

Adele's jawn doing 11,000,000 though :what: fukking mythical numbers. That new single did a hunnid milli on Vevo in seven days :dead:
makes you wonder what drives ppl to buy music nowadays. doesnt mke sense

You already lost. You ever listen to Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Lefty Frizzelle??

I've listened to them before

Cause if you have listened to country like I have you'd know that countries not all about Friday nights beer and trucks.

I didn't even give my opinion on what most Country music was about yet...why so defensive?:lolbron:

You lost as soon as you downplayed country.

:mjlol:

Yeah a lot of the new stuff and hits do talk about what you have mentioned but same thing with hip hop. The hits in hip hop talk about money cars clothes and hoes but of course that's not all what hip hop is, same thing with country.

You think popular and underground Country music going back to the 1920's has more diverse subject matter than Rap, popular and underground, going back to the 1980's?:jbhmm:

Take your L sir.

No L's taken on my side:mjpls:

I'm not surprised. The video for her new song has been on YouTube for 6 days and already has more than 139 million views.

So you think every black person should buy every album? The stuff you're so is so rudimentary that I won't even expand muxh. At no point is the hottest urban artist doing the most units without white support. No rap album ranks in the top 50 best selling albums in the 90s. Appealing to a niche market as a rapper is much smaller than appealing to a niche market as a country artist. Because your niche is still all of red state America. For black artists to do Adele numbers, all black people would have to back them as a block. So what happens if we don't all like Young Thug? Taylor Swift's fan base is greater than the entire black population.
Obviously he doesn't want black people to buy every album. But there is definitely enough blacks in this country for the most popular black artists to go plat off of the black dollar alone especially with CD & Download prices being at the absolute lowest they've ever been. There is absolutely no reason for Future, Young Thug, Fetty Wap & Chris Brown to be topping out at 300k sales and that's if they're lucky.

And no not every black person is going to buy the same music but thats the point there is a great variance in music taste amongst blacks and enough finances amongst those people for black artists of every style of music to eat well and for select black artists to go plat... everytime and solely off the black dollar. We just have to make music valueble to us again if we valued our music like we valued sneakers black artists would never have to pander to white audiences to make money ever again.

You said country has been moving numbers talking about the same shyt. I said you were wrong, named artist who don't just talk about Friday nights, beer and trucks. I didn't say anything about country being more diverse as a whole just more diverse than you make it seem.

Bingo. But i dont think that will ever happen :mjcry:

The internet killed the "mystique" of artists and made the music itself too accessible
I know breh. The internet and music software was the one two punch to music. It bridged the gap between the artist and average person and that is a gap that should've never been bridged. The crazy thing is black people can change everything. We low key control the tide of the music industry not financially but creatively and trend wise. If black people voluntarily gave up the convenience of illegal downloads and started purchasing music again everyone would follow suit. But i doubt it'll ever happen

IDK why the brehs on the first two pages are so aggy about an Adele thread being posted in the booth... like we didn't have a muti plat thread in the middle of the night when that surprise Beyonce album dropped :sas1: nikkas begging for links and all :sas2:

Adele is a pop star like Beyonce :manny:

To me, Adele is in that Joss Stone/Timberlake/Sam Smith/Ed Sharran lane, white person that makes black R&B music :manny:

And I'm pretty sure Rihanna will drop an album soon, maybe she do Adele like Future did Meek Mill this summer :pachaha:

With that being said... :damn: at possibly selling 1.8 mil first week, that is so ridiculous you just can't help but to laugh :mjlol:
