Was just going to mention that since we're talking about WOAT rumbles. Only highlight of that show was the WWE title match.

STONE GOAT was truly carrying this company on his back with rock co-starring. honestly there was alot of crap going on at that time. wcw still had a better talent roster. booking was simply crap

You hit the nail right on the head. At this time, the WWE was just starting to do a lot of things right (the Jan 4, 1999 title match which co-insided with the infamous fingerpoke of doom on Nitro), but they were still being a victim of their own booking.

Stone Cold at the time was the only thing carrying the company, and he alone got people to watch. It wasn't until much later that year the WWE started to smarten up and started focusing on how to elevate new stars (ie. Rock) while preparing for Austin's impending absence. Still think the #fukkery surround Austin leaving (booking what would've been the GOAT Triple threat match, to only run that nikka over with a car the day of the PPV) was stupid.

the WWF back then>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the WWE right now

Don't even start with this nostalgia garbage. For all the complaining the board does regarding current WWE, this might be their best roster ever in terms of overall talent and depth. You almost always get a good/pretty good match on EVERY show. Every single one.

WWF at that time was almost completely unwatchable at points. 1995-1996 overall was one of the worst stretches in wrestling history (sans the nWo) and at the time that this Royal Rumble happened, the upswing hadn't occurred yet, especially for the WWF. Outside of certain main event angles (mostly involving Austin and Hart), they were still crap.

Rumble '95 holds the crown for worst ever. If it wasn't for HBK and Bulldog you could just erase it from history. The only saving grace was HBK winning it.

Breh the only way to watch the 97' Royal Rumble is to watch the dvd "Casue Stone Cold Says So" and watch Stone Cold do commentary about it:

"OH YEAH YOU SORRY PIECE OF TRASH THAT'S WHAT I SAID! SEE YOU BACK STAGE PAL! The final veridic of the Rumble was a joke, look at Bret cry! That's all he can do is cry and that's all he ever does do!"

HBK and Davey Boy didn't go wire-to-wire because the writers had them do so, they went wire-to-wire because there was literally no one else who could close out the Rumble in the match.

What an awful, underwhelming match during an awful, underwhelming time in wrestling.
