If u knew anything you would know shaq has a problem with not being considered the top dog. It happened at Orlando, la, and Miami

What is the common denominator about all these places ? Shaqs soft ass ego
I don't think Shaq's ego is any softer than Kobe's.
And the other common denominator in those 3 cities is that Shaq led teams to the Finals in all of them (and titles in 2 of them).

Just about everywhere Shaq has been, when the offense flowed through him...the team was successful.

Shaq was the one who revived that Lakers franchise in the late 1990s.
Shaq was the one who led those Lakers to those 3 chips.

Why shouldn't he have felt like Dr. Buss should have offered him an extension?
Why shouldn't have the offense continue to flow through him?

I think a lot of you guys are just defending Kobe because you're fans of Kobe.
I'm not saying he wasn't a great player.

I'm of the opinion that if the organization had done more to placate Shaq...they would have had more success together than they ultimately did apart.
And this argument that "Kobe made a lot of money for the Lakers" doesn't really mean anything. The cap is what the cap is. If the cap is 65 million and they sell 20 million dollars in Kobe jerseys...that 20 million doesn't go into the payroll the following year to improve the team. When you're talking about the product on the court...those dollars are meaningless.

Shaq was jealous of Penny, Kobe, and Wade. He was in his early thirties and he was starting to lose his dominance, but not his ego when Buss made the decision. The fact that he only won 1 title with Heat playing with a prime Wade is telling enough. Just like in Orlando and in L.A., Shaq started to feel a certain way in Miami and he had to go. He didn't chill out with his ego until he got to Phoenix. If he was truly still as dominate as people like to fantasize, then he would've made it out the weaker east at least one more time with Wade. Truthfully, age, injuries and his weight had already caught up with him at that point.

I even think people over exaggerate the number of titles he would've won in L.A. The Shaq and Kobe Lakers had to really fight to even make it out of the West during the 3 peat. Honestly, I think the hate that they had for each other made them both better players and was a catalyst for the two of them to even get the three that they had.

Out here in my damn drawls
its all fun and games to beef with your mom and dad....until you get that phone call telling you that one of your parents passed away this morning or has a few months to live. all that pride goes away real quick:francis:

Dude tore his achilles, came back and got hurt again and they're still bitter over some material shyt?

What kind of parents wouldn't be concerned about their son's career being cut short? I would at least expect his father to reach out being that he's a former coach and athlete but nope

Wow. The greed:wow:

Exactly. Just because you are the parents don't make you right. At least he still has his sisters and they agree with him.

On the Saturday of All-Star Weekend, Clippers guard Chris Paul, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Heat guard Wade organized a private dinner for Kobe that didn't begin until 2 in the morning.

First came the joke gifts. A cane, compression socks, a subscription to Netflix. Then each man told Kobe how he would remember him.

"I can't remember word for word," Bernstein said. "But the theme of each of their speeches was how, when they first came in the league, their No. 1 goal was to earn his respect."

Video of the dinner and speeches was released to various entertainment websites a few days later, presumably by publicists for the restaurant or the men. It felt cheap and staged, even though the actual motives for the dinner were sincere and friends say Kobe seemed genuinely appreciative of the night.

A few weeks later, I ask Kobe what he remembers about that dinner. There are a bunch of details from that night on the internet. It was called the Gentleman's Supper Club. Carmelo got him a magnum of 1996 Gaja Barbaresco.

Did he allow himself to feel any of the reverence that came at him that night? Was he touched?

The Black Mamba nodded his head before answering the question.

"Best Caesar salad I ever ate."

damn how does ramona get all the exclusives? i'll try to read it over lunch.

My theory after reading the first little bit? He name dropped Walt Disney. This interview is on the Undefeated (Whitlock's former shyt....and maybe this story coming out was why he threw heat at Kobe like he did last week). Kobe doesn't strike me as a person to do something like this by accident so I bet he has a handshake deal in place with ABC/Disney/ESPN to produce content and be an analyst during the NBA season possibly to replace Billy Simmons' audience.....but that's just me and I could be wrong.

it's hilarious that someone thinks Jerry Buss should've picked Shaq over Kobe... Kobe wasn't replaceable.Iverson, Vince...even T-mac could not score, defend and close out games the way Kobe could.

Furthermore Shaq had a poor work ethic. Every season he'd come in camp out of shape and/or injured. Picking Kobe was a no brainer, a decision so simple you can't even give Dr.Buss credit for making it.

Because he was getting older and Kobe was entering his prime. How hard is it to understand? You're acting like the Lakers had the choice between a prime Shaq in his mid twenties and a prime Kobe in his mid twenties that wasn't the scenario. And Kobe also got the Lakers two more championships while Shaq only got one more on his own. /theendofthistopicrightthere.
