"UK/England has lower salaries and doesn't require businesses to pay health insurance."

:leon:
I've always thought how more ppl don't see it's a competitive disadvantage to put the whole burden of health insurance on the companies of America. What other countries do this? Most are entirely public.

So dumb

endgame just wasnt that good. Spiderman no way home was great but after that i have felt no urgency lto see any of those movies. they use to be must see to me it don't matter where it's filmed they always going to be expensive and if people aren't seeing them.. guess next they might just outsource to India

x men could bring the feeling back

I know right?!?!

People on the right always argue how much more expensive universal healthcare would be and Disney just crunched the numbers and peaced out

I mean the drop in production is because of streaming revenues

Shooting overseas has always been a thing. Atlanta stole work from LA because of lower cost but now those cost have gone up.

It’s the cyclical nature of capitalism
No it didn't. Atlanta ONLY ended up with all these productions cuz they moved from Wilmington, NC when our THEN Gov HO ass Pat McCrory didn't renew the tax breaks so they left NC in droves and move to Atlanta.

Same thing happening to Georgia happened to Wilmington and tons of hotels, restaurants and other industries reliant on those productions suffered.

Not sure if the article mentioned this but the studios themselves also kept getting fined for petty shyt, people thinking that they HAD to stay in georgia and were gonna just keep getting taxed :unimpressed: fukked around and overplayed their hands, I was in Atlanta at the time and hear multiple bosses complaining about this.

this started way back in 2018-19 tho, back when they decided to take Spiderman (i think it was "Far From Home") over to the UK, IFYKYK

the state of Georgia knew this and still didn't do anything to incentivize keeping shows there, just plain arrogant, Atlanta wasn't built on film so idk why they were so confident the work wouldn't leave eventually.

it's no different than any other major company outsourcing their work to sweatshops overseas :francis: they getting paid less over there, the strike just accelerated it because everyone in the states got a pay raise, then you introduce Ai into the equation too? Industry is cooked here for the most part when it comes to big projects
